Patent number: 9381589Abstract: An ultra-hard material fixed to a cutting tool is formed into a cutting blade by electric discharge machining. The wire electric discharge machine has a rotating shaft to which the cutting tool is mounted, and has a touch sensor mounted to an upper wire guide. A measurement program is generated on the basis of a machining path instructed by the machining program. A machining program is regenerated from rotating shaft coordinate information and path coordinate position information obtained at measurement points, on the basis of the measurement program. As a result, a rake face position of the cutting tool can be accurately measured and a wire electrode can be positioned accurately with respect to that position during machining.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2012Date of Patent: July 5, 2016Assignee: FANUC CORPORATIONInventors: Yasuo Arakawa, Yushi Takayama

Publication number: 20080053963Abstract: A wire electrode supply device for a wire-cut electric discharge machine that prevents a wire electrode from departing from a wire traveling path using a simple configuration. A wire bobbin is driven in a reverse direction of a wire feed direction by a torque motor to apply tension to the wire electrode. A velocity detector that detects a rotation velocity of the wire bobbin is provided. The wire electrode is laid along the wire traveling path that includes a guide roller, a brake roller, upper and lower guides, and a wire take-up roller, during which, when the wire electrode is fed out from the wire bobbin, if a velocity detected by the velocity detector meets or exceeds a predetermined velocity, the output torque of the torque motor 3 is increased so that inertial force of the wire bobbin causes the wire electrode to slacken, thus preventing the wire electrode from departing from the wire traveling path.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 27, 2007Publication date: March 6, 2008Applicant: FANUC LTDInventors: Yuki Kita, Yushi Takayama, Yoshinori Makino

Publication number: 20070228016Abstract: A wire electrode supply device capable of preventing slack and snapping of a wire electrode even using a heavy wire bobbin without using a wire electrode tension detector. A pulley is provided between the wire bobbin driven by a torque motor and a brake roller. The wire electrode unwinds from the wire bobbin, passes through the pulley, brake roller and a workpiece work area, and is taken up by a wind-up roller. When the wire electrode traveling speed is changed from fast to slow, the pulley descends to prevent the wire electrode from slackening between the wire bobbin and the brake roller. When the traveling speed is changed from slow to fast, the back tension from the torque motor is reduced for a predetermined period of time, reducing tension on the wire electrode and preventing it from snapping.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 22, 2007Publication date: October 4, 2007Applicant: FANUC LTDInventors: Yuki Kita, Yushi Takayama, Yoshiaki Tamura

Patent number: 7130713Abstract: A used wire cutting device for wire cut electric discharge machine which appropriately determines the time to replace a movable blade and a fixed blade of a cutting mechanism on the basis of not only time but also the degree of wear of each blade. The device includes a wear rate storage means for storing the wear rate per cut (1/P) of a blade of the wire cutting device depending on the diameter and material of the wire. The number of cuts performed during machining is obtained from the length of time from the start to the end of machining, and the number of actions of cutting per unit time. The number of cuts obtained is multiplied by the wear rate (1/P) for the wire used, and the resultant value is added to the last value of total wear rate R. With the value thus obtained, the last value of the total wear rate R is replaced.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2005Date of Patent: October 31, 2006Assignee: Fanuc LTDInventors: Yuki Kita, Yushi Takayama, Yoshinori Makino

Patent number: 6884957Abstract: A wire electric discharge machine having a simple mechanism for retracting and collecting a cutoff piece (machined chip or machined product). A cutoff piece receiving basket for receiving a cutoff piece produced during machining is attached to a support bar mounted to a lower guide block, the basket being rotatably supported by a rotary support shaft. A bearing provided in the support bar is located immediately short of a cam block, and then fitted into a slot by X-axis movement. A moment is applied to the support bar by Y-axis movement to rotate the cutoff piece receiving basket around the rotary support shaft, so that the basket is retreated to above a cutoff piece collecting box and then turned over, whereby a cutoff piece received in the basket falls into the collecting box. The cutoff piece receiving basket may be rotated manually or rotated by use of a robot, a special-purpose motor, an air cylinder, etc.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2004Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: Fanuc LimitedInventors: Yuki Kita, Yushi Takayama
