  • Publication number: 20080237059
Abstract: An electrolysis treatment apparatus for performing electrolytically treating a metal strip that is running in a certain direction is provided. A number of electrolysis cells continuously perform the electrolysis treatment with alternating currents in acidic electrolyte solutions. The electrolysis cells are arranged in series along the running direction of the metal strip. In each of the electrolysis cells, one electrode or two or more electrodes is/are provided. Each electrode is disposed so as to face a running path of the metal strip and applies alternating current. A soft start portion is provided at an entry region of the electrode at which the metal strip is fed in. Current density of the alternating current in the plural electrolysis cells is set so as to be the lowest in the electrolysis cell disposed furthest downstream with respect to the running direction of the metal strip. In at least one electrolysis cell except the electrolysis cell that is disposed furthest downstream.

  • Patent number: 6613388
Abstract: A recording sheet provided with a coloring material receiving layer containing inorganic particulates and a water-soluble resin is produced in such a manner that production of such a recording sheet is free from restrictions of the composition and properties of coating solutions as well as restrictions of the conditions of coating operation, the coated surface of the recording sheet produced is of high glossiness, and the production of such a recording sheet is carried out in a stable manner without causing lines and unevenness on the coated surface of the recording sheet produced. A coating is applied on a substrate with a slide coater to form a coloring material receiving layer, the coloring material receiving layer is subjected to drying with a dryer, then another coating is applied on the coloring material receiving layer formed with another slide coater to form a overcoat layer, and finally the coated surface is subjected to smoothing/metering treatment with a smoothing/metering unit provided with a bar.

  • Patent number: 5820935
Abstract: In a coating method and apparatus for applying coating liquid onto a web, the coating apparatus includes a rotating member rotatable and contacting with the web; and a support member supporting rotatably the rotating member and including a liquid reservoir formed between the rotating member and the support member, a fluid supply pipe, a cavity filled with the coating liquid and connecting to the fluid supply pipe, and a slit communicating the cavity with the liquid reservoir. The rotating member is supported by a fluid pressure of the liquid reservoir and the coating liquid supplied from the liquid reservoir forms a bead of the coating liquid by the rotating member between the web and the rotating member. The rotating member is floated uniformly in the widthwise direction by the fluid pressure so as to keep a predetermined clearance away from the support member to provide a stable coating. The bead is made uniform in the widthwise direction under any conditions.
