  • Patent number: 6393726
Abstract: A method for absorbing the moisture of a composite material, which can absorb the moisture of the composite material in a short period of time and which can provide a moisture absorption distribution which is equal to that of a composite material placed under actual environment. At time table, having a plurality of different environment conditions for pressure, temperature and humidity, and periods of time corresponding to the environment conditions, is previously prepared. Then, a composite material is put in a pressure vessel, and the environmental conditions in the pressure vessel are changed on the basis of the time table. Thus, the moisture absorption state of the composite material can be equal to that after the elapse of predetermined years under actual environment. In addition, it is possible to absorb the moisture of the composite material in a short period of time by absorbing the moisture of the composite material under an environment condition of high pressure.

  • Patent number: 5056419
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sealing device provided between a piston rod of a Stirling cycle engine and a variable volume chamber. The sealing device is provided with an arrangement so as to equalize pressures between a seal chamber and the variable volume chamber of the Stirling cycle engine. By equalizing pressures between the respective spaces, an overpressure is prevented which would otherwise distort the seal and permit oil to be carried into the working volume of the Stirling cycle engine.

  • Patent number: 5005349
Abstract: A Stirling engine is provided in which the burner has an annular shape and is disposed in an outside lower portion of the heater. The burner has a plurality of fuel delivery holes and a plurality of air supplying holes which open through an inner circumferential surface of the burner. The arrangement permits the Stirling engine to use a fuel line under a low pressure and to be easily used as a power source of a compressor for an air-conditioning and heating device for domestic use. Also, the arrangement permits the Stirling engine to be constructed without a fuel/air mixing device and to be used with a smaller blower. Furthermore, the arrangement permits the burner to be made from a variety of material, thereby reducing the manufacturing cost.

  • Patent number: 4564202
Abstract: A seal for a piston rod of a Stirling engine forcibly returns a fluid which has leaked into an intermediate chamber from this chamber to a fluid-filled chamber via an oil scraper adjacent thereto. The seal includes an O-ring secured to the piston rod at a position where the O-ring will be situated immediately above an oil scraper when the piston rod is at bottom dead center. The intermediate chamber includes a space contiguous to the oil scraper and of a reduced diameter sized to the outer diameter of the O-ring. When the piston rod descends toward bottom dead center, the O-ring is carried thereby into the reduced-diameter space toward the oil scraper. Owing to sliding pressured contact between the outer circumference of the O-ring and the inner wall of the reduced-diameter space, the latter is pressurized to forcibly impel a fluid, which has leaked into the intermediate chamber, from the reduced-diameter space into the fluid-filled chamber through the oil scraper.
