    Abstract: The present invention relates to a technique for intercepting light which is emitted from a connection reception side optical connector which is housed inside a connector hole of a connector housing of a device such as an optical connector adapter or the like using a shutter, and more particularly relates to a development of this technology which makes it possible to arrange the shutter without exerting the negative effect of increasing the size of the connector housing. With the present invention such light interception is implemented, without increasing the size of the connector housing 14, by providing a structure in which a shutter unit is fitted within a connector hole 14a of a connector housing 14, with this shutter unit comprising two shutter leaves 53A and 53B for light interception supported upon shafts in a main section 51 of the assembly.

    Abstract: An optical connector cleaning tool, which can easily and reliably clean a connecting end face of an optical connector while the optical connector is disposed in a connector housing, is disclosed. The optical connector cleaning tool comprises a tool body, and an insertion portion which is provided so as to project from the tool body, and which is adapted to be inserted into the connector housing, and the optical connector cleaning tool is adapted such that the cleaning element disposed at an end of the insertion portion projecting from the tool body is positioned and abutted against the connecting end face when the insertion portion is inserted into the connector housing. It is easy to insert the cleaning element into the connector housing and to abut the cleaning element against the connecting end face. Furthermore, it is easy to maintain the cleaning element in position abutting against the connecting end face when the cleaning element is moved for wiping the connecting end face.

In this optical connector with a shutter, the shutter unit is assembled in the center part of the connector housing, and the emitted light in the connector hole from the connected optical connector is blocked by shutter pieces of the shutter unit. Furthermore, an electromagnetic shielding capacity can be obtained without enlarging the optical connector by making the shutter unit from electrically conducting members.
