  • Patent number: 7697081
Abstract: A method for activating a state transition of a liquid crystal in a liquid crystal display is provided. The liquid crystal display has a first substrate, a second substrate and plural pixel structures, wherein the liquid crystal is sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate and each of the plural pixel structures has a transistor having a first electrode and a second electrode. The method including steps of: providing a first potential difference between the first electrode and the second electrode to generate a first electric field; providing a second potential difference between the first substrate and the second substrate to generate a second electric field; and transitioning the liquid crystal from a non-display alignment state to a display alignment state by the first and the second electric fields.

  • Patent number: 7450209
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a mteal electrode or a common electrode line (both called as Vbias electrode) is built in the pixel region. Holes passing through the pixel electrode are formed in the positions corresponding to the mteal electrode or common electrode line (both called as Vbias electrode) so as to reduce the crosswise electrical field. The liquid crystal molecule in the whole pixel region is in a splay state.

  • Publication number: 20080252818
Abstract: A backlight module including a frame, a plurality of light guide plates, a plurality of high refractive mediums, and a plurality of light sources is provided. The light guide plates are disposed within the frame and each of the light guide plates has at least one light incident surface and at least one light emitting surface. Additionally, high refractive mediums are disposed between two neighboring light guide plates. Moreover, the light sources are disposed beside the light incident surfaces of the light guide plates.

  • Patent number: 7349052
Abstract: The present invention builds a metal electrode that is controlled by the common electrode in each pixel cell. During operation, a voltage is first applied to this metal electrode to transform the liquid crystal molecule over this metal electrode from the splay state into the bend state. Next, a voltage is applied to the pixel electrode to transform the liquid crystal molecule in the whole pixel region from the splay state into the bend state. Two different voltage field also can be respectively applied to the common electrode and the pixel electrode.
