  • Publication number: 20190324574
Abstract: An electronic device such as a portable electronic device may have display with a capacitive touch sensor. A cover may have a front portion and a rear portion that bend along a bend axis. The front portion may overlap the display when the cover is closed. Conductive structures such as a patterned conductive layer having elongated strips of conductive material separated by gaps or another predetermined pattern may be formed in the front portion of a cover or other portion of a cover that overlaps the display and capacitive touch sensor when the cover is closed. Control circuitry in the device can gather capacitance images with the touch sensor and can detect when the cover has transitioned from open to closed or from closed to open from whether the predetermined pattern becomes present or becomes absent in the capacitance images.

  • Patent number: 10444820
Abstract: Low-power touch detection can be beneficial for an electronic device to maintain touch detection and enable response to certain touch inputs in a low-power state (e.g., a sleep state), while consuming less power than touch detection during an awake state. For example, sensing touch during the sleep state can allow the electronic device to wake (e.g., transition from the sleep state to the awake state) in response to detecting a certain touch input (e.g., a tap or other touch input) on its touch screen while in the sleep state. Examples of the disclosure provide various ways for the electronic device to further reduce power consumption in the low-power state by simplifying the processing requirements for touch input to the touch-sensitive surface.

  • Publication number: 20190236191
Abstract: An online system manages data by determining relevance of data dimensions to users. The online system determines which data dimensions a user is likely to be interested in. If a user requests to access a data set that includes data of different dimensions, the online system analyzes the dimensions' relevance to the user before providing the data set to the user. The online system provides the data to the user by prioritizing data dimensions that are more relevant to the user. As such, the online system improves the user experience by allowing users to conveniently and quickly locate relevant data and minimizing the distraction caused by irrelevant data. The online system may create and provide a user interface to present data dimensions that are determined to be relevant.

  • Patent number: 10171380
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a method, system and computer program product for the dynamic adjustment of a service level agreement (SLA) for a hosted computing environment based upon application capabilities. The method includes specifying in a user interface to the hosted computing environment one or more application components of an application to be hosted within the hosted computing environment. Thereafter, a resource utilization capability is determined for one of the components and a set of resource utilization options for an SLA for the application is filtered based upon the resource utilization capability of the component or components. One of the filtered set of options can be selected and the application is executed in the hosted computing environment. Finally, the utilization of resources accessible to the application is managed based upon the SLA during the execution of the application in the hosted computing environment.

  • Publication number: 20180300242
Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for managing caching of data in a multi-tenant cache storage device utilized by a distributed dataset based application. The mechanisms retrieve Resilient Distributed Dataset (RDD) block size information for an RDD associated with an application. A probability distribution of RDD block sizes is generated based on the RDD block size information and a maximum size for a RDD block of data is estimated based on the probability distribution. An amount of free space in a portion of the multi-tenant cache storage device allocated to the application is estimated based on the estimated maximum size for the RDD block of data. Cache operations for caching data associated with the application to the multi-tenant cache storage device are managed based on the estimated amount of free space in the portion of the multi-tenant cache storage device allocated to the application.
