  • Publication number: 20170130053
Abstract: Quinacridone pigments that are surface-functionalized with glycidyl methacrylate, maleic anhydride, or 4-methacryloxyethyl trimellitic anhydride to create a functionalized pigment. The functional groups are then activated to bond hydrophobic polymers, thereby coating the pigment with the hydrophobic polymers. The quinacridone pigments can be used for a variety of applications. They are well-suited for use in electro-optic materials, such as electrophoretic media for use in electrophoretic displays.

  • Publication number: 20170097556
Abstract: Improved formulations of electrophoretic media that can be incorporated into displays, front plane laminates, inverted front plane laminates, or color changing films. The formulations include a non-polar fluid, a plurality of first charged particles, and charge control agents (CCA) including a quaternary amine and an unsaturated polymeric tail comprising monomers of at least 10 carbon atoms in length. The formulations show improved switching speeds, as well as a larger dynamic range at low temperatures (i.e., below about 0° C.), where compared to state-of-the-art electrophoretic media.

  • Publication number: 20170088758
Abstract: Electro-optic assemblies and related materials (e.g., adhesive) for use therein are generally provided. The adhesive layer may comprise an end-capped polyurethane. Some adhesive layers comprise two or more reactive functional groups (e.g., reactive functional groups configured to react with one or more curing species such that, for example, at least one of the two or more functional groups forms a crosslink). The adhesive may also comprise a chain-extending reagent that includes one or more reactive functional groups. In some embodiments, the adhesive is cured by reacting one or more reactive functional groups with one or more curing species. Curing the adhesive may comprise two or more curing steps. In some embodiments the adhesive layer may comprise one or more cross-linkers.

  • Publication number: 20170085760
Abstract: A method for verifying a lighting setup used for inspecting a micro defect. The method includes simulating a scene including a micro defect, light source and imaging device. A position of the light source and imaging device is then optimized to form an optimized simulated setup for viewing micro defect. A shadow calibration reference (SCR) having a simulated shadow field is then rendered in a location. Next, a physical imaging device and light source are positioned based on information from the optimized simulated setup to form an optimized physical setup. A physical SCR based on information from the SCR rendering is fabricated. Next, an image is captured of a physical SCR in a corresponding location associated with each SCR rendering. The optimized physical setup is verified if at least one shadow parameter from the SCR rendering is substantially similar to a corresponding shadow parameter in a corresponding image.

  • Patent number: 9521988
Abstract: A method for tracking vessels in image data includes receiving a plurality of image frames and annotating a target vessel in the plurality of image frames. A plurality of tracking targets associated with the target vessel is selected based on a first image frame included in the plurality of image frames. For each respective image frame, a set of tracking points are determined according to a tracking algorithm which includes: selecting a plurality of landmark hypothesis points for each tracking target in the respective frame based on a comparison with a previous image frame, constructing a directed acyclic graph from the plurality of landmark hypothesis points, and solving the directed acyclic graph to yield a plurality of optimal landmarks for the respective image frame.

  • Patent number: 6875303
Abstract: The invention is a process for bonding glass to a substrate without the need to prime the surface of the substrate. The process comprises, first, treating the surface of the substrate with air plasma, applying to the surface of the substrate or to the surface of the glass an adhesive capable of bonding to the treated substrate and glass, and contacting the glass and the substrate with the adhesive disposed between the substrate and the glass, and allowing the adhesive to cure. Preferably the substrate is coated with a coating. Preferred adhesives are polyurethane or silane functional elastomeric adhesives. The process of the invention allows bonding of glass to a substrate without the need to use a primer on the substrate prior to application of the adhesive. The process is especially effective in facilitating the bonding of glass to coated substrates, especially substrates coated with acid resistant coatings such as PPG's carbamate coating or DuPont's Gen III, IV and VI coatings.
