TrueAim

Abstract

I have invented a tool to enable a golfer to determine his/her TrueAim to the hole when putting. The premise of the invention is that no two sets of eyes see or aim in exactly the same fashion and the device allows the individual golfer to establish and practice his/her TrueAim. The device is designed for a person to practice with and to train the individual to determine the aim of a putt, and then enable the individual to properly align based on that aim determination. Unique features of the device allow the golfer to align to a point within the cup just a few inches in front of the ball, and allows the golfer to align the putter to that spot and thereby align to what the golfer believes is the TrueAim of the putt. After putting the ball from the spot on the tongue of the device, and over the alignment arrow and dot in the round (see D and E in FIG. 2) the golfer is able to see the results of his/her TrueAim thereby allowing the golfer to adjust and gauge his/her TrueAim through future trials and adjustments. Through practice, this device allows the golfer to gain confidence in his/her ability to determine each individual's TrueAim when putting and thereby give each person the opportunity to make more putts.

Description

I have invented a tool to enable a golfer to determine his/her TrueAim to the hole when putting. The premise of the invention is that no two sets of eyes see or aim in exactly the same fashion and the device allows the individual golfer to establish and practice his/her TrueAim.

The drawing (FIG. 1) is an overhead view of the device which is drawn to scale.

FIG. 2 is identical to FIG. 1 except that the significant parts of the device are referenced by letter.

The device is very thin clear plastic which lays flat on the putting surface and is thin enough for a golf ball to roll freely over it without disturbing the device or interfering with the roll of the ball. The device consists of a 4.25 inch round portion (see B in FIG. 2) (the size of a golf hole) with a tongue (see A in FIG. 2) that extends approximately 1.5 inches from the round portion and is 1.3 inches wide. At the center of the round portion is a colored dot (see E in FIG. 2) made of thin vinyl for alignment. At the center of the tongue is a colored line made of vinyl with an arrow at the end (see D in FIG. 2) pointing toward the dot identified as B in FIG. 2. On the colored line is a small hole (see C in FIG. 2) on which the golf ball is placed to utilize the aiming device. At the end of the tongue is a small black area (see F in FIG. 2) to assist the person using the device in aligning the putter squarely to the ball and the line with the arrow. Two small holes are near the edge of the round (see G in FIG. 2) in which ball markers may be placed to stabilize the device and to assist with the visual process of aiming.

The device is designed for a person to practice with and to train the individual to determine the aim of a putt, and then enable the individual to properly align based on that aim determination. Conclusion: I regard the important part of the invention to be the device itself coupled with the aiming process which allows each individual golfer to determine their TrueAim and thereby, through practice with the device, improve their putting by knowing how they aim and improving their aim. This declarant has golfed for over 30 years and has not seen anything similar to this device that allows a golfer to gauge his/her aim and therefore believes the concept and use of the device is unique. I have tested the device with multiple individuals, all of whom are experienced in the world of golf, and all agree and are enthusiastic that this device creates a unique method of alignment, and a unique method to teach alignment and aim. It is for these reasons that I claim as my invention the unique TrueAim device, and the unique method of its use to adjust the individuals TrueAim, as set forth and described in this specification.
