Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of Invention

The present invention relates generally to cosmetic eye enhancement, and in particular to a portable travel kit to retain false eyelashes and associated eyelash application tools.

2. Description of Related Art

False eyelashes are commonly used to enhance the appearance of a user's eyes. A wide variety of false eyelash colors and styles are available, thus a user may own several sets for use at different occasions.

Commercial packaging for false eyelashes is intended to be disposable and is thus not durable for extended storage and reuse. Previous attempts at reusable packaging for false eyelashes has not included customized compartments to retain both the eyelashes and the related tools, such as tweezers, glue and sanitary eyelash cleanser.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Referring to FIGS. 1 and 3, an apparatus for storing false eyelashes and eyelash application tools according to a first embodiment of the invention is shown generally at 10. The apparatus 10 includes a travel kit 20 with an open-top base 22 having a plurality slots 24 and may include at least one storage compartment 26 therein, as illustrated in FIG. 3. Eyelash containers 70 are selectively receivable within the plurality of slots 24, as illustrated. The storage compartment 26 is adapted to retain a selection of false eyelash application tools, such as tweezers, glue and sanitary eyelash cleanser, as is commonly known, therein, and may include a compartment lid 28 thereon. The travel kit 20 may be securely closed with a lid 30 thereon.

The base 22 includes exterior front, rear and side walls 32, 34 and 36, respectively, extending from a bottom surface 38 to a top edge 40. At least one upright compartment wall 42 may extend between the front and rear walls 32 and 34, respectively. The storage compartment 26 is defined between a side wall 36 and the upright compartment wall 42. A plurality of upright slot walls 44 extend between a side wall 36 and the upright compartment wall 42 or between the two side walls 36 in the absence of a compartment wall 42, defining the slots 24 therebetween. Although one storage compartment 26 and 3 slots 24 are illustrated herein, it will be appreciated that more or less compartment walls 42 may be included to define additional storage compartments 26 or no storage compartment at all, and more or less slot walls 44 may be included to define more or less slots 24. As illustrated in FIG. 1, the compartment lid 28 adapted to enclose the storage compartment 26 and may include a lifting member 46, such as a depression or hole therethrough or a lift handle thereon, to facilitate removal.

The lid 30 extends between front, rear and side walls 50, 52 and 54 respectively, extending from a top surface 56 to a bottom edge 58. The top surface 56 of lid 30 may be formed in a truncated circular or oval shape, as illustrated, such that the front and rear walls 50 and 52 are co-formed with the top surface 56, although it will be appreciated that other shapes, such as rectangular, may be used, as well. The rear wall 52 of the lid is hingedly joined to the rear wall 34 of the base 22 by means as are commonly known so as to permit the lid 30 to hingedly pivot between an open position, as illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 3, and a closed position, as illustrated in FIG. 4. The lid 30 includes at least one fastener 58 extending from the front wall 50 adapted to join the lid 30 to the base 22 with, such as, by way of non-limiting example, a snap or hook and loop fastener. It will be appreciated that other attachment means may be useful, as well.

As illustrated in FIG. 1, the lid 30 may include a mirror 60 extending between the interior of the front, rear and side walls 50, 52 and 54. The mirror 60 may be selectively removable to store accessories therebelow. The mirror 60 may be hingedly joined to the lid 30 along one edge, as is commonly known. Referring to FIG. 3, the lid 30 may define an upper interior compartment 62 which may be used to store accessories therein. As illustrated in FIG. 5, the interior compartment 62 of the lid 30 may include at least one pocket 64 or at least one strap 66 therein. The pocket 64 or strap 66 may be secured to the interior of the lid 30 with stitching, adhesive or the like, as is commonly known, and may be elasticized to retain accessories therein.

Turning now to FIG. 2, each eyelash container 70 includes a base 72 and a cover 74. The cover 74 is hingedly connected to the base 72 by means as are commonly known. The cover 74 and base 72 may include first and second portions of a clasp 76 and 78, respectively, to secure the cover 74 to the base 72 in a closed position, although it will be appreciated that the eyelash container may not include a clasp, as well. The base 72 defines a storage space 80 adapted to receive an eyelash support 82 therein. The eyelash support 82 includes a pair of raised arcuate portions 84 thereon adapted to receive a pair of false eyelashes 8 thereon, as is commonly known. The eyelash support 82 may be provided by the manufacturer of the false eyelashes 8 within a disposable package, or the eyelash support 82 may be included within the eyelash container 70 onto which the false eyelashes 8 may be transferred following purchase. The cover 74 may be formed of a rigid transparent material such as, by way of non-limiting example, Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), although other rigid transparent materials may be used, as well.

While specific embodiments of the invention have been described and illustrated, such embodiments should be considered illustrative of the invention only and not as limiting the invention as construed in accordance with the accompanying claims.
