Description
CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

The present application claims the benefit of previously filed co-pending Provisional Patent Application, Ser. No. 63/337,740 filed on May 3, 2022.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The device of this disclosure belongs to the field of handgun barrel attaching devices. More specifically it is a tapered handgun barrel to make a more secure interface between the handgun barrel and an attached accessory.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

In the prior art many handgun barrels are made with a threaded end to allow for attachment of various accessories such as thread protectors, compensators, or a booster for a suppressor.

As these accessories require more precise and secure interfaces with the handgun barrel this invention of adding a taper at the end of the barrel that matches an opposing taper in the accessory enables an advance in precision of the alignment and a more secure interface.

The invention of this disclosure, consisting of opposing tapers between the handgun barrel and the accessory, enables more precision in the alignment and a more secure interface of an accessory on a handgun barrel.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The device of this disclosure belongs to the field of weaponry. More specifically in the invention of this disclosure the adding of a taper at the end of the handgun barrel before a threaded end that matches an opposing taper in the accessory enables more precision in the alignment and a more secure interface.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

For a fuller understanding of the nature and objects of the invention, reference should be made to the following detailed description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:

FIG. 1 shows a preferred embodiment diagram of the handgun assembly of this disclosure.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

As discussed above, through the use of a taper at the end of a handgun barrel, threaded on accessories can be mounted with more precision and a more secure interface. Attachments might include a thread protector, compensator, or a booster for a suppressor. The taper will allow accessory attachments to mount with near perfect concentricity and also create a locking interface.

More specifically as shown in FIG. 1 of the preferred embodiment device of this invention a handgun barrel (1) that has a threaded end (2) for accessories (not shown) also includes a taper (3) before said threaded end at the end of the handgun barrel (1) such that when accessories having an opposing taper (3) of similar angle and depth are screwed onto the threaded end (2) of the handgun barrel (1) the opposing tapers (3) allow attachments to mount with near perfect concentricity and also create a locking interface.

Since certain changes may be made in the above-described device that uses a taper on a handgun barrel without departing from the scope of the invention herein involved, it is intended that all matter contained in the description thereof shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

Claims

1. A tapered end on a handgun barrel having a threaded end for attaching accessories allowing for improved concentricity and locking interface comprising:

a handgun barrel;
said handgun barrel having a threaded end;
said handgun barrel having a taper before said threaded end of said handgun barrel; and,
such that when accessories having an opposing taper of similar angle and depth of said handgun barrel taper are screwed onto said threaded end of said handgun barrel, said opposing tapers allow said accessories to contact and mount with concentricity to said handgun barrel and also create a locking interface between said accessory and said handgun barrel.
