  • Patent number: 6848281
Abstract: A stretchable warp knitted fabric comprising warp knitting yarns, first weft in-laid yarns and second weft in-laid yarns, and stretchable warp in-laid yarns. The second weft in-laid yarns consist of a plurality of at least non-stretchable yarns, and said second weft in-laid yarns run sequentially and separately in the course direction on different wale regions of the same course with having an arbitrary length respectively, while crossing the first weft in-laid yarns between courses. Consequently, even when pulled in a longitudinal direction, because the separate second weft in-laid yarns influence each other independently, the fabric does not have a great amount of ruffling in a width direction thereof and thus the a flat surface is maintained wherein there is no narrowing in the middle of the longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 6848298
Abstract: A fuel vapor purge system includes a fuel tank, a canister, and an evaporation route, and purges fuel vapor collected in the canister into an intake passage of an internal combustion engine. A failure diagnosis apparatus of the fuel vapor purge system includes a controller having a pressure difference applying unit for applying a pressure difference between the evaporation route and outside air. The controller also detects a level of an influence of the fuel vapor generated in the fuel tank on failure determination of the evaporation route, and detects both a pressure state obtained when the pressure difference applying unit communicates with a reference orifice communicating with the outside air and a pressure state obtained when the pressure difference applying unit communicates with the evaporation route. The failure diagnosis apparatus determines whether there is a failure in the evaporation route in view of the level of the influence by comparing the detected pressure states with each other.

  • Patent number: 6848306
Abstract: A semiconductor dynamic sensor such as an acceleration sensor is composed of a sensor chip having electrodes movable in response to acceleration applied thereto and a circuit chip having a circuit for processing signals fed from the sensor chip. The sensor chip and the circuit chip are contained and held in a packaging case. The sensor chip and the circuit chip are fixedly connected via an adhesive film. The sensor chip is correctly positioned on the circuit chip without creating misalignment relative to a sensing axis, because the adhesive film from which an adhesive material does not flow out under heat is used. A semiconductor wafer including plural sensor chips is first made and the adhesive film is stuck to one surface of the wafer, and then individual sensor chips are separated by dicing. • Patent number: 6848307
Abstract: There is described an accelerometer which is fabricated utilizing a beam diaphragm sensor employing dielectrically isolated resonant beams. Each resonant beam is subject to an acceleration. One beam is an acceleration sensing beam and contains a mass which is coupled to the deflecting diaphragm. As the accelerometer is subjected to acceleration, the acceleration sensing beam will alter its resonant frequency according to the applied acceleration, while the other beam is immune to acceleration and therefore, provides a relatively fixed resonant frequency. One then takes the difference frequency between the two beams to obtain an output frequency signal which is relatively independent of temperature and/or biasing changes.

  • Patent number: 6848308
Abstract: In order to compensate for a drop in sensitivity at high rotational speeds, an acceleration sensor having an inductive measuring head (T) which cooperates with a moving Ferraris disk (F) essentially over a main magnetic field and which supplies an acceleration-dependent variable (Vdet; V?) is expanded by an additional DC magnetic field excitation circuit (13, 14, IK, RK) with a means for driving the latter with the effect that the additional DC magnetic field acts in a compensating fashion on an eddy-current DC field, starting from a relatively high rotational speed (?) of the Ferraris disk (F). This can be performed by amplifying the main magnetic field or by reducing the eddy-current DC field. A control signal (V?), dependent on rotational speed, which both can be generated outside the sensor via a characteristic curve, and can be derived in the form of a control loop from the sensor signal (V?), serves as a drive.

  • Patent number: 6848310
Abstract: A capacitive dynamic quantity sensor includes a semiconductor substrate, a weight, a movable electrode, and two fixed electrodes. The weight is movably supported by the semiconductor substrate. The movable electrode is integrated with the weight. The fixed electrodes are stationarily supported by the semiconductor substrate. The fixed electrodes face the movable electrode to provide a narrow gap and a wide gap and form a detection part having a capacitance. The weight and the movable electrode are displaced relative to the fixed electrodes in response to a dynamic quantity to be detected such that one of the gaps increases while the other decreases. The dynamic quantity is detected on the basis of the variation in the capacitance. One of wide gap electrode surfaces, which define the wide gap, is smaller than narrow gap electrode surfaces, which define the narrow gap, to improve sensor sensitivity.

The transmitting transducer is disposed proximate an input side of the second panel and can transmit an ultrasonic signal into the second panel such that at least a portion of the signal reflects off of the first panel at the joint and exits an output side of the second panel. A receiving transducer disposed proximate the output side of the second panel can receive a reflected portion of the ultrasonic signal. And a processing element is capable of identifying a defect in the composite structure.

  • Patent number: 6848313
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and a device for inspecting pipelines, in particular for detecting defects in pipelines by means of ultrasound. Towards this end, measuring sensors transmit ultrasound signals during passage through a pipeline. The signals reflected on boundary regions of a pipeline wall, e.g. surfaces or defects, are then measured and evaluated. The invention is characterized in that partial regions of the measuring sensors (virtual sensors) formed of a plurality of neighboring sensor elements irradiate ultrasound signals into the pipe wall at at least one radiation angle which is inclined with respect to the normal to the pipe wall and the signals reflected at boundary regions of the pipe wall are received by same and/or other partial regions of the respective measuring sensors, wherein defects in the pipe wall are determined by evaluation of the acoustical signals reflected by different boundary regions.

  • Patent number: 6848321
Abstract: A system and method for non-destructively testing the strength of bonded joints, particularly a bonded joint between two composite components, is provided. The method generally includes activating a source of rapid surface pressure application against a bonded assembly containing the bonded joint to create a shock load. The resulting shock load first generates compression and then tension within the bonded joint, along with surface motions proximate the bonded assembly, and a surface motion detector measures the surface motions to determine the minimum strength of the bonded joint. Accordingly, the surface motions are correlated to the strength of the bonded joint. Further, the magnitude of the impact may be adjusted to vary the amount of tension within the bonded joint to correspond with various load conditions.
