Abstract: A checkout counter belt cover for displaying information, including advertising information. The cover is formed of a stretchable material and includes at least one printable surface. The cover is releasably attachable to a checkout counter belt such that it substantially covers the entire belt but without affecting standard belt movement. A perimeter attachment component and a width attachment component are removably affixed to the belt. One end of the cover is releasably affixed to the width attachment component. As the belt is moved, the cover is releasably affixed to the perimeter attachment component. As one rotation of the belt is completed, the opposite end of the cover is releasably affixed to the width attachment component adjacent to the one end of the cover.

Abstract: A warning sign for mounting on a structural member, such as a cross arm of a utility pole, has an elongated U-shaped support member and a warning message disposed thereon. The warning sign is installed on the structural member by a utility worker at ground level by pushing it upward onto the structural member, about which it locks and cannot be easily removed. The support member and warning message are preferably extruded from high-density polyethylene which includes ultraviolet (UV) inhibitors.

Abstract: An apparatus and methods for mounting poles to vehicles is disclosed. The apparatus and method can permit the mounting one or more flagpoles to a receiver of a trailer hitch assembly of a vehicle. The apparatus can include an insert having an inner end and an outer end, the inner end configured to be received within the receiver of a vehicular mounted trailer hitch assembly with a support tube secured to the outer end of the insert, the support tube defining a support aperture configured to removably receive a flagpole. The flagpole may pass through the support tube and rests upon the ground, so that part of the weight of the flagpole is supported by the ground and part of the weight of the flagpole is supported by the apparatus.

The present invention also includes a method of selling advertising space that includes providing an aisle sign adapted to be displayed in a retail establishment, where the aisle sign includes reconfigurable elements adapted to provide information on products available within the retail establishment, and selling or leasing advertising space associated with the aisle sign, where the advertising space includes a first name-brand product advertisement utilizing at least one of a pictorial representation and a linguistic description specific to a first name-brand product.

Abstract: A precisely measured removable cover for reusable beverage containers with releasable closures. The cover has a flexible sheet with a graphical display imprinted on one side and a cover fastener for removably fastening the cover to a container. The sheet is advantageously adapted to substantially cover the side walls of the container. The cover fastener has one or more releasable closures, and at least one of the releasable closures includes a fluked tab interlock locking tab and slot structure, wherein the fluked tab is on one end of the cover and the slot is proximate the opposite end of the cover and parallel to the fluked tab. A cam/slot paired closure is also disclosed.

Abstract: A transparent frame for holding and displaying a jigsaw puzzle comprises a clear sleeve having a clear front viewing portion. A top and a bottom rigid panel attached to the front viewing portion, are bent backwardly and inwardly to form the back of the frame. The back is spaced a short distance away from the front viewing portion to sandwich a back plate and puzzle pieces therebetween. Two alternate pair of notches or hangers located on the retaining panels for hanging the puzzle holding frame on a wall or other vertical surface in either a portrait or landscape orientation. A flat rectangular back plate allows a puzzle may be assembled on it or it can slide under an assembled puzzle to pick it up whereby the puzzle on the back plate. The back plate may be slid into the side opening of the clear sleeve with the picture side of the puzzle showing through the front viewing portion.

Abstract: A multi-purpose, front-loading display frame includes a front frame member having a pair of opposite first and second lateral side sections, a rear frame member having a pair of opposite first and second lateral side sections, at least one hinge for pivotally joining the first lateral side section of the front member to the first side section of the rear frame member to permit pivotal movement between an open position, in which the second side sections of the front and rear frame members may be pivoted apart from one another, and a closed position, in which the second side sections are disposed closely adjacent to one another. A lock is mounted on one of the second side sections of one of the front and rear frame members, and at least one latch plate is engageable with the lock. The deflector is attached to the firearm to adjust the size of the ejection port and may be attached at one of at least two attachment positions of the firearm. The adjustable ejector system includes an ejector selectively attached to the firearm at one of at least two ejector attachment positions. The improved firearm also includes an ambidextrous magazine catch system for selectively retaining a magazine within a firearm. The magazine catch system includes a first button opposite a second button such that either button may be actuated by a user to release the magazine retained with the firearm.

Abstract: A firearm includes a frame, a slide, and modular sear and trigger mechanism housings. The frame has fore and rear receptacles integrally formed therein, e.g., upwardly open compartments accessible from the top of the frame. The modular housings house one or more operational components of the firearm, e.g., trigger and sear components, and are configured for “drop in” insertion into the receptacles. Each housing also includes a set of integral slide rails. For assembly, the operational components are attached to the modular housings, and the housings are dropped into the receptacles and secured to the frame. The slide is operably positioned on the slide rails for reciprocating movement thereon. The frame is provided without integral rails and other features for supporting the operational components. Instead, the rails are provided as part of the modular, drop-in sear and trigger mechanism housings, which also support the operational components.

The attachment body features a longitudinal bore and slot through which a bushing and fishing line can be inserted. The bushing also features a longitudinal bore and slot through which a fishing line can be fed. The longitudinal bore and slot in the bushing also enable the bushing to be compressed to fit securely into the body of the attachment body, thereby preventing the attachment body and bushing assembly from becoming unintentionally separated from the fishing line. The preferred embodiment of the invention further comprises a rib on the outside surface of the bushing that prevents rotational movement of the bushing vis-à-vis the attachment body.

Abstract: A device for trapping and killing rodents includes a long, narrow box-like enclosure having an entrance opening at a first end through which the rodent passes face first into the enclosure, and an opposite rear end having rear wall from which a bait shelf inwardly projects for the placement of bait thereon, with a snap trap located between the entrance opening and the bait so that the rodent must walk over the trap at the trap's most lethal orientation which is straight forward thereby unavoidably triggering the trap and killing the rodent. A pair of clips positioned within the enclosure adjacent the rear wall secure the trap in position and prevent the trap from flipping up when triggered, and the both the rear wall and the roof are hinged so that they can be opened for replacing the bait without disturbing the trap and for removing both the bait and trapped rodent so that the enclosure can be re-baited and the trap reset or replaced.

Abstract: The current invention is a bird trapping device comprising a means for luring birds toward a hollow and substantially vertical shaft. The shaft is configured with a substantially closed top which prevents birds from exiting the top. The shaft is further configured with a means for allowing visibility through a second side of the shaft opposite an opening in a first side of the shaft. The shaft is further configured so that a bird cannot maintain forward flight in the shaft and falls through the shaft into a holding pen assembly.

Abstract: A device for trapping and killing rodents includes a narrow box-like enclosure having an entrance opening through which the rodent passes face first into the enclosure, and an opposite rear wall from which a bait shelf inwardly projects for the placement of bait thereon, with a snap trap positioned between the entrance opening and the bait so that the rodent must walk over the trap at the trap's most lethal orientation which is straight forward thereby unavoidably triggering the trap and killing the rodent. A pair of clips positioned within the enclosure adjacent the rear wall secure the trap in position and prevent the trap from flipping up when triggered, and the both the rear wall and the roof are hinged so they can be opened for replacing the bait without disturbing the trap and for removing both the bait and trapped rodent so that the enclosure can be re-baited and the trap reset or replaced. The device is also collapsible to a flat disposition to facilitate storage, transport and cleaning.

Abstract: A mosquito control device has a mosquito attracting and obliterating unit coupled to a heat-generating unit operable to supply heated CO2 and moisture to the mosquito attracting and obliterating unit. The device uses a combination of female mosquito attractants that incite mosquitoes hunting instincts including CO2, moisture, static thermal imaging, dynamic thermal imaging, spot thermal imaging and special lights. Abstract: A method for increasing the cetane number of a diesel fuel composition which contains a major proportion of a diesel base fuel is provided, in order to reach a target cetane number X. A fatty acid alkyl ester (FAAE) having a cetane number B greater than the cetane number A of the base fuel is added to the base fuel in an amount x, wherein x is less than the amount of the FAAE which would need to be added to the base fuel in order to achieve cetane number X if linear blending rules applied. The concentration of the FAAE in the overall fuel composition is preferably from 0.05 to 25% v/v.

Abstract: A method for dewatering water-containing coal which includes heating the water-containing coal at a temperature of 100 to 350° C. under a pressure not less than a saturated steam pressure at the temperature for the heating, while applying a shearing force of 0.01 to 20 MPa to the coal, in a sealed vessel. The method is novel and allows the production of dewatered coal which is inhibited from reabsorbing water after dewatering and is also inhibited from absorbing oxygen after dewatering.

The plant pot preferably comprises a first pot member and a second pot member that are capable of engaging and disengaging each other. At least one retainer extends about an outer surface of the plant pot to retain the first pot member and the second pot member in an engaged position. In one embodiment, the first pot member and the second pot member are identical such that they are manufactured from the same mold thereby reducing manufacturing costs and simplifying production of such plant pot.

The planter body has an open top end and an open bottom end. Four seats are connected to the planter body at each of the respective four corners. Collectively, the four seats allow a gardener to reach all portions of the planting area when used in turn. A soaker hose is connected to the planter body and suspended within the planting area of the planter body. The soaker hose has a connector configured to accept the attachment of a common garden hose thereto and is in fluid connection therewith. A pest control barrier and weed control barrier line the open bottom end of the planter body.

Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel processor that produces hydrogen from a fuel. The fuel processor comprises a reformer and a heater. The reformer includes a catalyst that facilitates the production of hydrogen from the fuel; the heater provides heat to the reformer. Multipass reformer and heater chambers are described that reduce fuel processor size. Single layer fuel processors include reformer and heater chambers in a compact form factor that is well suited for portable applications. Some fuel processors described herein place an electrically resistive material in contact with a thermally conductive material to heat fuel entering the fuel processor. This is particularly useful during start-up of the fuel processor. Fuel processors described may also include features that facilitate assembly.

A first carbon monoxide oxidizer (1) and second carbon monoxide oxidizer (2) disposed in series decrease the carbon monoxide concentration of the reformate gas by a prefential oxidation. The air for the preferential oxidation is supplied to the carbon monoxide oxidizer (1, 2) from a compressor (9). The reformer (8) consumes the water heated by the reaction heat of the first carbon monoxide oxidizer (1). The water amount supplied for the reformer (8) increases as a fuel reforming requirement of the reformer (8) increases. When the fuel reforming requirement increases, the water heating capability of the first carbon monoxide oxidizer (1) is enhanced with a sufficient response by increasing the proportion of air supplied to the first carbon monoxide oxidizer (1).

The attachment member (11) is preferably an elongate arrangement with a gap between a first side structure and a second side structure in the form of a clamping arrangement. The gap is dimensioned to receive an edge (25) of the roof and preferably has a stop member (15) positionable against an edge of the roof cladding. The force distribution member (12) is preferably dimensioned and configured to mate with corrugations (27) or other indentations in the roof to resist lateral displacement. The connection means (13) is positioned towards the junction of the arm and the longate member to resist the tendency for lateral rotation and displacement of the roof anchor as a harnessed worker moves laterally on the roof.

Abstract: An alignment-affixing device for affixing a projecting member through a support structure substantially at a right angle, including at least a first cylindrical collar, the first collar dimensioned to receive a projecting member of varying sizes. The alignment-affixing device further includes a bridging section affixed orthogonally to the first collar, and a pair of arm flexures affixed orthogonally to obverse ends of the bridging section and parallel to the first collar, for releasably securing the alignment-affixing device to the support structure. When a projecting member is placed through the first collar and when the pair of arm flexures is engaged with the support structure and the bridging section is placed against the support structure, the projecting member is oriented substantially at a right angle with respect to the support structure.

Abstract: A method of expanding a mid-rise building to a high-rise building, where a quake-absorbing foundation (5) for a high-rise building is newly provided outside the foundation of an existing mid-rise building (19) support members (6) are stood on the newly provided quake-absorbing foundation, and new dwelling floors (10) are fabricated above the existing building using the support members. After the completion of the new dwelling floors, upper floors of the existing mid-rise building are dismantled and removed and remaining individual floors of the building are remodeled sequentially Thus, with the dwellers living in the building, a mid-rise building can be expanded to a high-rise building having excellent quake-resistance.
