Abstract: An infusing device has a handle (2), a squeezing head (8) carried by a plunger (3), and a receptacle for holding a bag containing an infusible substance such as tea, coffee or herbs. The receptacle may include a number of elongate cage element (10), which are pivotally secured to the handle 2 passing through apertures in the periphery of the squeezing head (8). The plunger is internally biased by oppositely acting spring elements so that movement in one direction opens the cage for insertion and removal of a tea bag or the like, and movement in the opposite direction squeezes the bag between the head (8) and the tips of the elements (10). In another embodiment the cage elements are moved independently of the plunger by means of an internal sleeve within the handle. Devices are also described in which the squeezing head is fixed with the handle and the cage elements are pivotally secured to an internal plunger, and in which a receptacle having perforated relatively movable parts replaces the cage.

Abstract: A compactor for compacting and dewatering debris comprises a housing having an inlet for enabling debris to be delivered to forwarding augers which forward the debris to a compaction chamber at the discharge end of the housing. The chamber has an outlet opening of less cross-sectional area than that of the chamber, thereby ensuring sufficient compaction of the discharged debris that it can pass through the opening. The opening is formed in an elastic wall which distorts to some extent and imposes a resistive force on the movement of debris through the opening, thereby further compacting the debris as it passes through the opening. Debris passing through the chamber may be sprayed with water to remove sludge-like substances which otherwise would cling to other types of debris.

The coating is preferably applied as a two component spray comprising an aqueous catalyst and an aqueous asphalt emulsion. The aqueous catalyst can employ an aqueous acid, preferably citric acid, but can also use an aqueous catalyst comprising an aqueous solution of calcium chloride. Preferably each of the two components are directed through separate ports on a spray nozzle so that they mix together on the fly external to the nozzle before contacting the surface to be coated. Abstract: The present invention relates to a water dispersion for ink-jet printing, including a colorant, particles (A) (except for pigments) having a refractive index of 1.0 to 2.2, and a nonionic organic compound containing a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 8 to 30 carbon atoms, and exhibiting a solubility of 1 g or less in 100 g of water as measured at 25° C., as well as a water based ink containing the water dispersion. There are provided a water-based ink for ink-jet printing which can exhibit a high optical density upon one-pass printing on plain papers and, therefore, is suitable for high-speed printing, as well as a water dispersion used in the water-based ink.

Abstract: The invention relates to an agent and uses for treating and improving building materials, mineral mixtures and mineral colours, and to a corresponding method. The aim of the invention is to create an agent, a method and uses of the above-mentioned type which enable old and new capillary-porous building materials, mineral mixtures and mineral colours to be rendered hydrophobic, with both high efficacy and a simple handling process, simultaneously providing the same with a long period of protection, and/or to protect said materials from humidity, without affecting a subsequent coating of the material, the mineral mixture or the mineral colour, without strongly reducing the vapour permeability thereof, and without modifying the inherent colour of the same. To this end, the agent contains between 60.0 and 75.0 mass % of water, between 15.0 and 22.0 mass % of soap, between 1.0 and 7.0 of mass % of a carbonate compound, between 2.0 and 6.0 mass % of sodium hydroxide, and between 1.0 and 7.0 mass % of filler.

Abstract: Crude indanthrone is milled, with or without other additives, to reduce and normalize particle size and distribution to a sub-pigmentary, near amorphous, state. The resulting highly aggregated crude powder is then treated with a heterogeneous solvent system of water and an alkyl ester of an aromatic carboxylic acid, such as methyl benzoate, to de-aggregate and grow the particles back to a pigmentary size. The conditions of the solvent treatment can be controlled with respect to temperature, time, and solvent ratio such that the desired properties of strength, shade, and dispersability are optimized.
