  • Patent number: 7398560
Abstract: Headwear such as a hat, cap, or visor with a headband and a brim extending outwardly therefrom includes a crescent shaped opening defined by an inner portion of the brim and an external leading edge of the headband. Beyond the opening the opaque brim extends away from the headband to an outward tip, and to lateral side edges. The opaque brim is attached at its lateral edges directly to the external leading edge of the headband. The crescent shaped opening allows more flow at a central area of the brim, yet it narrows toward lateral edges of the brim to ensure that sunlight toward the wearer's sides is adequately blocked from eye contact. This novel structure provides maximum shading of the wearer's face, yet directs considerable airflow from beneath and above the brim through the opening to cool the wearer's eccrine glands along the forehead.

  • Patent number: 7398565
Abstract: A self-cleaning urinal anti-splash device having a series of angled deflectors which send the urine stream ever deeper into a series of channels leading down toward the urinal drain. The angled deflectors not only send the urine stream ever deeper into the channels, but they simultaneously prevent the urine from exiting the channels in any direction other than downward toward the drain. This is accomplished by virtue of the fact that inner faces of the deflectors are adapted to deflect the urine back toward the urinal wall. No plane perpendicular to the direction of the initial urine stream is presented to the user. Gravity then causes it to flow to the drain. The device is also self cleaning because there is nothing to prevent the water of a flush cycle from passing through the vertical channels by gravity feed, thereby removing all the urine on the deflector surfaces. The device can be made of metal, plastic, rubber, or other inexpensive easily moldable substance.

  • Patent number: 7398570
Abstract: A fitted mattress cover for enveloping the top, side and end surfaces of a mattress is constructed to accommodate a range of mattress peripheral sizes and thicknesses. The construction utilizes composite end panels which include stretch end panels covering lower partial portions of the mattress end surfaces and which impart recovery forces to effectively grip the mattress and thereby minimize the shifting of the cover relative to the mattress. At the same time, the look and feel of the mattress covering, which may be of importance especially in the case of a fitted sheet, is improved, by virtue of the fact that the side panels can be formed as uninterrupted unitary extensions of the material forming the top side panel, or other material based upon aesthetic considerations, as can upper partial portions (extension end panels) of the composite end panels.

  • Patent number: 7398574
Abstract: In a method for treating ropelike textile goods in a closed container that contains at least two axially adjacent J-boxes for receiving textile goods during at least part of the treatment time, a driving motion in a feeding direction is imparted to the textile goods, by means of a gaseous flow of feeding medium made to act on the rope via feed nozzle means. The textile goods, before entering each J-box, pass through separate feed nozzle means assigned to that J-box. Upon exiting from these feed nozzle means, the textile goods are introduced selectively into the respective associated first J-box or a second J-box adjacent to this J-box, or in the case of at least one J-box are conducted along a predetermined path, which carries the textile goods away from this J-box.
