Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing a honeycomb compact-body molding die having material feed bores for supplying material therethrough and slit recesses formed in a polygonal lattice pattern to mold the material in a compact body with a honeycomb shape are disclosed. The slit recesses are formed on a recess forming surface of the molding die using an electrode having electrode segments, formed in a lattice pattern corresponding to shapes of the slit recesses each of which has a wall thickness of 0.1 mm or less, to generate an electrical discharge between the molding die and the electrode to form the slit recess on the molding die. When the electrode is worn by a given amount, an apical end cut-off processing step is executed to cut off an apical end of the electrode using a dress plate to expose a new apical end formed with an electrical discharge surface.

The foot engaging plate is sufficiently rigid so as to resist distortion of the foot engaging plate, during use of the shoe sole, so that the foot remains supported by the foot engaging plate during use of the shoe sole. A pivot member is located between the foot engaging plate and the ground engaging surface/plate to facilitate relative pivoting motion between the foot engaging plate and the ground engaging surface/plate. A layer of resilient material is sandwiched between the foot engaging plate and the ground engaging surface/plate. The resilient material may have one or more bores formed therein which accommodate a compressible material therein to facilitate programming of a desired compression characteristic for the shoe sole.

Abstract: The invention relates to a combination of ski boots of various sizes and skis with a fitted binding, comprising a toe jaw and a heel jaw, the relative separation of which may be altered and fixed relative to the ski by means of a guide device arranged on the ski. The ski boots belong to at least two ski boot types (1, 1?, 1?), which differ in the length of the sole (a, b, c), each of which are suitable for the fitting of inner boots (3a to 3d, 3?a to 3?d, 3?a to 3?d) in at least two boot sizes. The skis comprise binding jaws, arranged to be adjustable such that the relative separation thereof may be matched to the differing lengths of sole, whereby markings on the types of ski boot and markings on the guide device of the binding permit an unambiguous matching of the sole length to the corresponding jaw separation.

Furthermore, a pump (40) is provided for pumping water from the water reservoir (30) to the steam generator (20). Inside the steam generator (20), the water is heated to steam. The generated steam is conducted through the steam iron (10) to an item to be ironed. The steam iron (10) comprises a soleplate (11) having a contacting surface (12) for contacting items to be ironed. A temperature of the soleplate (11) is kept at a relatively low level of for example 110° C. throughout an entire steam ironing process, whereas variations of an ironing temperature are obtained on the basis of variations of a temperature of the supplied steam. As a result of these factors, the risk of scorching of the items to be ironed is reduced.
