Abstract: The subject of the present invention is a pyrotechnic method for generating gas at two successive flow rates a first flow rate then a second flow rate, said first flow rate being higher than said second flow rate—which comprises: the combustion of a first pyrotechnic charge (10) in a first combustion chamber (1) discharging into a second combustion chamber (2) via at least one nozzle (3); and the combustion of a second pyrotechnic charge (20) in said second combustion chamber (2) discharging to the outside via at least one vent (21). Characteristically, said first chamber (1) operates at high pressure and said second chamber (2) operates at low pressure. Another subject of the invention is a pyrotechnic gas generator suitable for the implementation of said method. The invention is most particularly applicable in the context of side protection airbags (“curtain airbags”), used in automobile safety.

Abstract: This invention is a pneumatic mass transportation system on the cutting edge of technology employing a combined cycle turbine power system with digital controls to effect acceleration, deceleration and train propulsion. The combustion turbines can be adapted to use alternative fuels including bio fuels as they are developed. The heat recover steam generator will recycle the hot exhaust gasses from the turbines to generate electricity to be used by the system. The multi-car train is propelled by differential air pressure forward and aft of the vehicle in the pneumatic tube. Air propulsion is achieved by large in-tube impellers driven by the turbines. A digital control system will operate the pitch of the impeller blades and the vacuum/pressure release valves in the tubes to produce full movement control of the trains.

Abstract: The seat surface of a chair of a chair lift can be pivoted with the aid of a pivot mechanism. Thus, the seat surface can, while a passenger is sitting thereon, be pivoted in such a way that it extends so as to descend, or descend more markedly, toward the rear edge of the seat part. Passengers enter automatically, and independently of their size and sitting position on the chair, into a stronger, stable back position, thereby reliably counteracting slipping in the direction of the front edge of the seat part and thus slipping-through between the seat surface and transverse hoop.

Abstract: A pallet assembly includes an upper deck and a lower deck spaced by a plurality of columns. The weight of the pallet is reduced without significant reduction in strength by providing only a single cross beam in each of the upper and lower reinforcement members and orienting them perpendicular to one another. The reinforcement members are minimized for weight reduction and for improved performance in heat tests. The peripheral rail of the upper reinforcement member is reduced such that it rests on only an inwardly open recess on an inner corner of each of the corner columns. This reduces the size and weight of the upper reinforcement member, while still providing support to the upper deck. Additionally, the peripheral rails of both the upper and lower decks are reduced in length such that either ledge does not directly support them while the pallet is stored on a rack.

The auger is rotated using power derived from the tiller to which the novel seed row forming apparatus is attached. In operation, the larger diameter outer portions of the auger dig a furrow and move the disturbed soil inwardly along the diminishing diameter of the auger, thereby depositing the soil from each side of the auger into a central berm or seed row. Abstract: The invention relates to an assembly for the formation of coatings on substrates in a vacuum, wherein a plasma is formed by means of electric arc discharge at least on one target connected as cathode, and the arc discharge will be ignited between an anode and the target by means of a deflectable focused laser beam which is directed through a window to the surface of the target. It is an object of the invention to provide a technical solution by means of which an undesired coating in the window area of a vacuum chamber can be distinctly reduced. According to the invention, for this a permanent magnet or electromagnet is disposed between the window and at least one target at the side next to, above or below the optical axis of the laser beam, and the laser beam is guided through a magnetic field developed by the permanent magnet or electromagnet.

Abstract: This invention is directed to troughs and more particularly to pre-cast or molded troughs made of plastic, fiberglass or other appropriate material and utilizing a novel shape whereby the trough rests on it's natural tipping point using a novel pair of stabilizers made to rest on the ground and fit into corresponding cavities on the underside of the trough to maintain an upright and stable position until tipping is desired. The unique shape makes possible the slight backward tipping of the trough, done easily by one person, so the stabilizers can be kicked away and the trough tipped forward to empty, clean and/or refill.

Abstract: A surrogate nurser for mammal infants, such as kittens and puppies or other infants without the ability to nurse from their mother for any reason is described that includes a furry exterior to provide the feel of the mother. Inside the surrogate is a reservoir with a flat bottom that houses a milk substitute that flows through protrusions that align with holes in the surrogate wherein the protrusions are equipped with nipples that allow the infants to suckle. The head of the surrogate includes a simulated heartbeat and in the case of cats, a simulated purring sound. Both the purring sound and the heartbeat are controlled by switches found on the head of the surrogate. The head is removable for easy cleaning of the body of the surrogate without damaging the electronics found in the head.

Abstract: A flexible omnidirectionally reflective pet leash and collar having a handle and a cylindrical central core is housed within a cylindrical omnidirectionally reflective sleeve that reflect an incoming light beam back in the same direction as it is emanated. The reflected light beam provides accurate illumination of the pet owner's hand, pet leash and the location of the pet during dusk or nighttime hours. This flexible omnidirectionally reflective pet leash is created by surrounding a central core with a cylindrically reflective sleeve comprising a flexible retroreflective sheet and being operable to surround the central cylindrical core thereby providing omnidirectional reflectivity.
