Abstract: A new female tetraploid kiwifruit plant, Actinidia chinensis, named ‘Soreli’. The new variety results from a controlled cross made using tetraploid A. chinensis ‘A137’ as seed-parent and A. chinensis ‘A134.41’ as pollen donor. ‘Soreli’ bears single flowers; the fruit is large (118 g on average), oblong, circular in cross section with a reddish brown skin and a brilliant yellow flesh; core is small. Fruit taste sweet, acidity is low. Fruit are harvested earlier than both ‘Jintao’ and ‘Hayward’. Bud break occurs 6 and 8 days before ‘Jintao’ and ‘Hayward’ respectively and flowering time occurs 2 and 9 days before ‘Jintao’ and ‘Hayward’ respectively in Udine (46° 02? N, 13° 13? E; 88 m asl) where the comparative observations were carried out. Fruit has medium storage life (up to 3-4 months).

Abstract: A southern highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) variety particularly distinguished by a low chilling requirement, very upright growth habit, vigorous early-spring leafing, early ripening (50% ripe berries in north Florida around April 24), very open berry cluster; and berries that are large and firm, somewhat darker in color, have good flavor, texture, and keeping quality, and have a small, dry picking scar.

Abstract: A southern highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum) variety particularly distinguished by having a low chilling requirement, especially for the flower buds, a vigorous, upright bush, light-blue berries with a small, dry picking scar, high firmness, and good flavor, and a very loose berry cluster.

Abstract: A new and distinct plum almond hybrid cultivar for rootstock use that originated as a pollinated seedling as provided. This new invention (cultivar) is particularly well suited for use as a plum, peach, nectarine, apricot and almond rootstock. It is found that this new invention (cultivar) exhibits good root anchorage as well as a significantly reduced tendency to form unwanted suckers.

Abstract: A new and distinct variety of plum tree that is characterized by producing a semi freestone fruit with good dark red coloration and is ripe for commercial harvesting and shipment June 3-June 14 in the San Joaquin Valley of Central California. The new variety is closely similar to ‘Santa Rosa’ plum (non patented) from which it is hybridized but it is distinguishable in that it ripens seven to ten days before ‘Santa Rosa’ variety. The fruit of this new variety is medium size with good flavor and good dark red color which makes it greatly acceptable for the consumer.

Abstract: A new and distinct variety of strawberry (Fragaria×ananassa), which originated from seed produced by a hand-pollinated cross between FL 93-103 and FL 95-316. The new strawberry, named ‘Winter Dawn’, is distinguished by high November through February production of fruit that are medium to large in size and moderately resistant to Botrytis and anthracnose fruit rot diseases when grown in Dover, Fla. or other areas that have a subtropical climate similar to that of Dover.

Abstract: This invention relates to a new and distinct cultivar of strawberry plant named ‘DrisStrawThirteen.’ The new cultivar is primarily characterized by having large-sized, fruit with strong sweetness and weak acidity and having a plant with resistance to powdery mildew and moderate resistance to Strawberry Mottle Virus, wind, drought, high temperatures, high pH, high soil salt levels and water logging.

Abstract: A new cultivar of Physocarpus opulifolius, ‘Gelesq’, characterized by its dwarf, compact and broadly spreading plant habit habit, its unique foliage with leaves that are dark gray to purple-black in color, its ability to be readily propagated by stem cuttings, and its hardiness to U.S.D.A. Abstract: A fluid flow control apparatus for use in a mid-string location in a pipe string being run into a well has an open fluid flow route to the annulus above the apparatus to provide more flow area for upwardly moving fluid. Flow up the upper pipe string bore is resisted to reduce fluid overflow from the top of the pipe string. Fluid flow down the pipe string bore closes the fluid channel between the lower pipe string bore and the upper annulus and blows out a pipe bore flow resisting element for free down flow of fluids in the pipe string bore.

Abstract: A plurality of metal wires are formed on an underlying interlayer insulating film. Areas among the metal wires are filled with a buried insulating film of a silicon oxide film with a small dielectric constant (i.e., a first dielectric film), and thus, a parasitic capacitance of the metal wires can be decreased. On the buried insulating film, a passivation film of a silicon nitride film with high moisture absorption resistance (i.e., a second dielectric film) is formed, and thus, a coverage defect can be avoided. A bonding pad is buried in an opening formed in a part of a surface protecting film including the buried insulating film and the passivation film, so as not to expose the buried insulating film within the opening. Thus, moisture absorption through the opening can be prevented.

Abstract: A waveform generator includes a plurality of delay elements such as in a delay line circuit of a free-running oscillator, phase locked loop (PLL) circuit or delay locked loop (DLL) circuit, an algebra module, a switching module and an output module. The oscillator includes a plurality of delay elements and a plurality of taps disposed between the delay elements, with each tap providing a uniquely phased, oscillating transition signal. The algebra module includes an algebra data input port, a clock input port and an algebra data output port. The algebra module generates a signal at the algebra data output port indicating a first rising edge of the arbitrary waveform in response to a signal received at the algebra data input port. The switching module includes a switch input port in electrical communication with the algebra data output port, a plurality of switch tap input ports in electrical communication oscillator taps and switch output port.

Boost circuitry controls the threshold voltage of the pinch-off circuitry and pull-up circuitry draws voltage from the output of the pinch-off circuitry to regulate the control by the booster circuitry.

Abstract: A method for organizing and compressing spatial data to enable fast, incremental downloads of spatial data over a network. The method comprises multiple steps for segmenting and reducing spatial data, and introduces a location-relevant naming system for storing and accessing the data. Applications installed on remote devices are able to efficiently compute data file names based solely on location information, download the data over a network and cache the data on the device.

Abstract: A still-picture acquisition section in a computer selects a brightness-periodically-varying portion of image data of a living cell like a cardiac cell, as a sample, which makes a self-ordered periodic motion, monitors a change in brightness, generates a trigger signal at the timing at which the value of the brightness exceeds a specific threshold value, causes a camera body to repeatedly pick up the image of the living cell after a predetermined delay time, and then averages the picked-up images. This makes it possible to acquire as high-quality still pictures the instantaneous status of a living cell which varies with time in accordance with the application of external stimulation or the in-vivo order.

Abstract: A gloss-imparting device for imparting a gloss on a color image, the gloss-imparting device has a transparent toner image-carrying body, a transparent toner image-forming unit, a heating/pressurizing unit, and a cooling/releasing unit. The transparent toner image-carrying body carries a transparent toner image formed of a transparent toner thereon. The transparent toner image-forming unit forms the transparent toner image on the transparent toner image-carrying body. The heating/pressurizing unit heats and pressurizes the transparent toner image and the base material to bring them into contact. The cooling/releasing unit cools the transparent toner image and releases the base material from the transparent toner image-carrying body. The transparent toner image is transferred and fixed onto the base material by the heating/pressurizing unit.

Abstract: The present invention builds on the implications of variability in flow durations on the stability of load-sensitive routing. In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, long-lived flows of packets are routed dynamically while short-lived flows are forwarded on preprovisioned static paths. This hybrid approach can exploit flow-classification hardware at the edge of backbone networks and known techniques for flow-pinning, as well as basic insights from earlier work on QoS routing. This approach of separating short-lived and long-lived flows can dramatically improve the stability of dynamic routing.

Abstract: Briefly, there is provided a method for manipulating content stored on a disk recorder/playback device using conventional transport commands, such as those used on a conventional videotape recorder (VTR). The method commences by detecting whether the content is in one of a prescribed set of modes, and by determining whether one of a stop, normal motion, a first rapid motion or second rapid motion buttons has been actuated. Depending on which of the stop, normal motion, a first rapid mode or second rapid motion buttons, the content is advanced in one of a first and second directions. The motion of the content is controlled in accordance with the detected content mode and to the degree to which one of the first rapid motion mode and second motion mode buttons has been actuated.

Abstract: A highway crash cushion includes a single, central, rigid, guide tail that guides the crash cushion in axial collapse. Diaphragm assemblies are each provided with recessed legs, and a central guide that slides along the rail while locking against the rail in a lateral collision. The diaphragm assemblies support fender panels that include four longitudinally extending ridges, a central slot, and a tapered trailing edge that reduces vehicle snagging. Energy absorbing elements are disposed between the diaphragm assemblies, and each includes an indicator that clearly indicates when the element has been compressed and possibly damaged.

Abstract: Electronic devices are formed on a substrate that is advanced stepwise through a plurality of deposition vessels. Each deposition vessel includes a source of deposition material and has at least two shadow masks associated therewith. Each of the two masks is alternately positioned within the corresponding deposition vessel for patterning the deposition material onto the substrate through apertures in the mask positioned therein, and positioned in an adjacent cleaning vessel for mask cleaning. The patterning onto the substrate and the cleaning of at least one of the masks are performed concurrently.

Abstract: The present invention provides convergent processes for preparing epothilone A and B, desoxyepothilones A and B, and analogues thereof. Also provided are analogues related to epothilone A and B and intermediates useful for preparing same. The present invention further provides novel compositions based on analogues of the epothilones and methods for the treatment of cancer and cancer which has developed a multidrug-resistant phenotype.

The system includes a plurality of configuration items, wherein each configuration item is a functional component of the system and has an associated state value that is one of a set of state values describing operational characteristics of the configuration item. A data structure that represents transitions between the state values is constructed in each of the configuration items. Each of the configuration items receives notification requests that include a first set of state values, a second set of state values, a requester identifier, and a message value. The requester identifier and message value of each notification request are associated with a transition of the configuration item for a transition from a state in the first set of state values to a state value in the second set of state values.

Abstract: Methods for built-in self-test (BIST) testing and circuitry for testing a content addressable memory (CAM) core are provided. In one example, the BIST circuit includes a search port for enabling searches of the CAM core and a maintenance port for enabling addressing of locations of the CAM core. The maintenance port includes writing logic for writing to locations of the CAM core. The BIST circuit also includes a BIST controller for coordinating BIST testing of the CAM core. The BIST controller is capable of performing a BIST search on the CAM core on every cycle through the search port and performing a BIST write at selected times to the CAM core. Thus, the BIST write is capable of being performed in a same cycle as the BIST search permitting at-speed BIST. The BIST controller, performs BIST testing in a manner that limits the number of rows in the CAM that match at any given cycle, thus allowing a low-power BIST operation.

Compressed code is entered for the programs to be blocked. In particular, this application discusses systems and methods for providing apparel that is both selectively inflatable and adapted for use as a pillow. The inflatable apparel may include any clothing or object that is adapted to be worn by a person and is selectively inflatable so as to act a cushion for the person wearing the apparel or of another. The inflatable apparel comprises an apparel item, such as a necktie, and an inflatable bladder. In some cases, the necktie is made to receive and retain the bladder in an inflated position or a deflated position. The bladder extends through at least a portion of the necktie. Additionally, when inflated, the bladder provides a pillow or cushion for use by the individual wearing the inflated necktie, or for use by an individual other than the person wearing the necktie.

Abstract: The invention relates to a garment which is intended for the lower part of the body, such as trousers or shorts that are fitted to the waist or hip, which lifts the user's gluteal region in order to improve the appearance thereof while simultaneously providing a high degree of comfort. For said purpose, each of the rear sections of the garment is equipped with: a plurality of built-in clips which extend approximately from the centre of a reinforcing line close to the upper edge of the garment towards the centre of the corresponding buttock; and a plurality of built-in clips which extend from the seam between the rear section and the respective front section, which are disposed in line with the gluteal region and which extend towards the centre of the corresponding buttock.

Abstract: A helmet which may be rapidly disassembled and removed from a wearer. A flexible cable may engage cable fastening elements located along a helmet split area, thereby forming the outer shell into an integral, rigid unit. When desired, the cable may be quickly withdrawn from the cable fastening elements so that the outer shell may be rapidly disassembled and removed from the wearer. Following disassembly, the helmet may be rapidly reassembled by reengagement with the cable fastening elements. Each end of the cable may be provided with a handle, to facilitate helmet disassembly whether the wearer of the helmet is lying substantially face-down or substantially face-up. A cable release mechanism may be provided to prevent unauthorized or undesired helmet disassembly during play, for example.

Abstract: A portable urinal device that is particularly adapted to be used by a small child. The device includes a receptacle and a head member disposed on the receptacle, where the head member is placed beneath a user who can then urinate into the receptacle. The head member can include anterior side segments that are angled upwardly and are adapted to urge against the user's bladder to encourage urination. The device can advantageously be placed on a level surface so that the user can sits upon the head member. The device is useful when other bathroom facilities are not available and for potty-training a child.
