Publication number: 20110094150Abstract: The present process produces a clean burning coal from low grade coal and has a higher heating value per unit mass, as compared to the feed stock coal. The clean coal may be used in coal-fired power plants, industrial boilers, and homes since it produces fewer or none of the emissions commonly associated with coal burning devices. The process treats coal prior to its combustion and removes about 90 percent of the pollutants. These pollutants are removed within 6 to 18 minutes, many of which may be recycled into products such as roofing tar, chemical feed stocks, and light hydrocarbons that can be used as gaseous fuels. The final product is suitable for use in homes where coal is used for cooking and heating, and significantly improves the health of those who have previously been exposed to toxic fumes from burning uncleaned coal in their homes. The process is fueled by its own by-products, recycles heat, and reduces coal weight to save energy in transporting it to the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 15, 2008Publication date: April 28, 2011Inventors: Larry Hunt, Anton Dilo Paul, Florentino J. Publication number: 20110094151Abstract: A method of soil retention uses a soil additive that increases water retention of basic potting soil. The soil additive, either premixed with or added to soil, is biodegradable, ultra-absorbent, and generally safe for the environment. When water is added to the soil additive mixture, moisture is retained within the additive to be disbursed throughout the soil and thereby to the plant within the soil, over a prolonged period of time, e.g. fourteen days to twenty eight days, depending on ambient conditions and the plant.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 28, 2009Publication date: April 28, 2011Inventors: Denis A. Publication number: 20110094152Abstract: A fiber pot, made of a combination of coconut fiber and natural latex rubber, is described that is able to be folded and compressed. Folding and compression of the fiber pots allows more pots to be placed within a shipping container thereby reducing shipping costs by approximately 75%. Because the folding fiber pots are made of coconut fiber and a natural latex rubber, they are 100% biodegradable and horticultural products contained within do not need to be removed prior to planting. This eliminates the root shock that horticultural products normally experience when planted in a different soil.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2009Publication date: April 28, 2011Inventors: Wayne Thomas Toyama, Yohan Suriyampola

Publication number: 20110094153Abstract: A vertical wall garden made from modular perforated plastics wall members, which form a back walls, compartment walls and horizontal shelf members, whereby the back walls, compartment walls and horizontal shelf members, interlock with each other to form a layer of box like plant holding compartments with an open face. A first layer is positioned against a vertical wall with the open face facing outwardly from the wall, and additional layers are connected on top of each other until the required height of vertical wall garden is reached. The layers are then secured to the vertical wall. Plants are then placed in water permeable containers with soil and placed in the holding compartments with the plants facing outwardly from the wall. Watering means can be connected to wall garden to supply water to each plant.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 1, 2010Publication date: April 28, 2011Inventor: Humberto Urriola

Publication number: 20110094154Abstract: A self-contained garden growing system employs a plurality of modular growing sections, each having a pre-determined length of porous tubular sock material filled with growing medium for plants therein, and having a modular length of irrigation tube installed lengthwise through the growing sock. The opposite ends of the tube have male and female coupling fittings so that a plurality of sections can be coupled together in series, with each growing sock locked in position by the shoulders of the coupling fittings at its opposite ends. The modular sections are of a plurality of types for accommodating different types of plants, volumes of growing medium, and/or watering volumes. The different types of sections each can deliver a pre-determined volume of water that is a multiple of a basic watering volume for the sections, thereby facilitating easy computation of the number and types of sections that can be coupled together in a series for a given water source.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2009Publication date: April 28, 2011Inventor: Alan JOAQUIN

Publication number: 20110094159Abstract: The invention relates to a method for reprocessing CO2-containing exhaust gases in a multistage reduction process. The CO2-containing exhaust gas is conducted in the counter stream to a solid mass stream of inert bulk material and organic material that can be thermally decomposed through a plurality of zones (4, 3, 2, 1) into a pressure equalization region and is thereby converted into pyrolysis gases. In the flow direction of the solid mass stream in a fuel gas production stage (1) at 250-700° C., the organic matter is thermally decomposed under reducing conditions into short-chained hydrocarbons, hydrogen and carbon monoxide to produce coke and residue. In an intermediate stage (2) with increasing temperature, oxidation of the pyrolysis coke is carried out, wherein the developing carbon monoxide is suctioned off counter to the solid mass stream in the direction of the fuel gas production stage (1). In a carbon monoxide production stage (3) at 800-1,600° C.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2008Publication date: April 28, 2011Inventor: Roland Möller

Publication number: 20110094160Abstract: A door operator for selectively opening and closing a side hinge door. The door operator may include a motor with a drive shaft, an operator arm assembly, a door position sensor, and a controller. The operator arm assembly may include an output shaft operatively coupled to the drive shaft, an operator arm, and a clutch assembly mounted to the output shaft. The door position sensor, which may be electro-magnetic, signals the controller when the door is not closed. If the door has been manually pushed open, the controller signals the motor to rotate the drive shaft in the closing direction. In automatic mode, the output shaft and the operator arm are operatively engaged, but manual force to open the door overcomes static friction between the operator arm and friction discs in the clutch assembly, operatively disengaging the operator arm and output shaft until the manual force is removed.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2009Publication date: April 28, 2011Applicant: YALE SECURITY INC.Inventor: Blue Houser

Publication number: 20110094192Abstract: A method for compacting a slug of product and apparatus for accomplishing the same. The invention describes collecting weighed product in an intermediate settling device to form a compact slug of product. The device can comprise a single settling chamber or can comprise multiple settling chambers which are axially rotatable. The slug can be compacting by jostling and/or vibrating the settling device. Thereafter, the product is discharged to a packaging apparatus. Because the product in the final package is denser, a smaller package can be utilized reducing manufacturing and shipping costs.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 23, 2009Publication date: April 28, 2011Applicant: FRITO-LAY NORTH AMERICA, INC.Inventors: Patrick Joseph Bierschenk, Jerry Mike Reaves
