Publication number: 20110283800Abstract: Propagation of ultrasound through a porous body saturated with liquid generates electric response. This electro-acoustic effect is called “seismoelectric current”, whereas reverse version, when electric field is driving force, is “electroseismic current”. It is possible to measure seismoelectric current with existing electro-acoustic devices, which had been designed for characterizing liquid dispersions. Such versatility allows calibration of said devise using dispersion and then applying it for characterizing porous body. In general, magnitude of seismoelectric current depends on porosity, pore size, zeta potential of pore surfaces and elastic properties of matrix. It is possible to adjust conductivity of liquid for simplifying these dependences. For instance, liquid with high ionic strength causes double layers become thin comparing to the pore size, which eliminates dependence of said currents on pore size. We suggest using such case for characterizing porosity.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 15, 2009Publication date: November 24, 2011Applicant: Dispersion Technology Inc.Inventors: Andrei Dukhin, Philip J. The outer shape of the transducers can be a non-circular cylindrical shape such as that of a right square prism or an octagonal prism.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 19, 2010Publication date: November 24, 2011Applicant: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventor: NORIYUKI MATSUMOTO

Publication number: 20110283803Abstract: There is disclosed an internally switched multiple range transducer. The transducer employs a plurality of individual pressure sensors or Wheatstone bridges fabricated from semiconductor materials and utilizing piezoresistors. Each sensor is designed to accommodate accurately a given pressure range, therefore, each sensor is selected to provide an output when an applied pressure is within its accommodated range. Publication number: 20110283821Abstract: A sensor system utilizing flexible electronics for on-line real-time high-sensitivity sampling, monitoring, and analysis of a parameter or analyte of interest in a fluid or in or on a solid is provided. The flexible substrate sensor system comprises a plurality of sensors, a flexible substrate, a network, and a connection between the sensors and the network, wherein the network reads out or collects information from the sensors. The network can be onboard, connected by via a physical connection to the sensors and the flexible substrate, or external to the sensors and flexible substrate, connected via a telemetric or wireless connection to the sensors. The flexible substrate sensor system can be deployed in systems that conduct or distribute fluids or solids, such as distribution systems (municipal water systems, oil or gas pipeline systems), industrial systems (production facilities, piping, and storage systems), and large structures (dams, bridges, walkways, buildings).Type: ApplicationFiled: November 19, 2007Publication date: November 24, 2011Inventors: Christopher Kemper Ober, Thomas Denis O'rourke, Michael G. Publication number: 20110283823Abstract: The invention provides an adjustment device and a method for the adjustment of a machine by means of the adjustment device which has a carrier block and a spindle guided in the carrier block, which spindle has an extension piece at its first end. The carrier block has a contact surface spaced from the guiding section of the spindle, e.g. which contact surface is at the surface of the carrier block facing the extension piece, and is particularly approximately in perpendicular to the axis of the spindle. Upon moving the spindle along its longitudinal axis in the guiding section in the carrier block the extension piece is moved against the plane in which the contact surface is arranged.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 13, 2011Publication date: November 24, 2011Inventor: Sven Hunze

Publication number: 20110283824Abstract: An actuator comprising a motor having a drive shaft, a spindle which is directly or indirectly driven by the drive shaft and which exhibits an axial recess being delimited by an internal limiting surface, said spindle comprising an internal thread arranged on the limiting surface, said thread having a predetermined axial extension, and a piston rod which is arranged in the recess to perform a translational movement relative to the spindle between a first end position and a second end position when the spindle is rotating, said end positions defining a length of stroke of the piston rod, said piston rod comprising a threaded portion which exhibits an external thread and has a predetermined axial extension, said external thread being adapted to interact with the internal thread of the spindle. According to the invention, the axial extension of the internal thread of the spindle is at least twice as long as the axial extension of the threaded portion of the piston rod.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 1, 2010Publication date: November 24, 2011Inventor: Krister Kumlin

Publication number: 20110283827Abstract: The present invention relates to a dual mass flywheel for a drivetrain of a motor vehicle. The dual mass flywheel comprises a primary flywheel mass (12) and a secondary flywheel mass that can rotate relative to a rotary axis (r) of the dual mass flywheel, and that can be rotationally elastically coupled to each other by a coupling device (26). The coupling device (26) comprises at least two pivot levers (28) associated with one of the two flywheel masses (14, 12) and interacting with a control profile (36) associated with the other flywheel mass (12, 14). The pivot levers (28) are pretensioned by elastic elements (40) against the control profile (36) in a radial direction from the outside inward relative to the rotary axis (r). A central segment of each of the elastic elements (40) is disposed inside of the control profile (36) in the radial direction relative to the rotary axis (r).Type: ApplicationFiled: February 3, 2010Publication date: November 24, 2011Applicant: MAGNA POWERTRAIN AG & CO KGInventor: Rudolf Glassner

Publication number: 20110283828Abstract: An anti-theft bicycle pedal is disclosed. The mounting end of the pedal is shaped with polygonal faces and/or splines to match an opening on the crank so that when the mounting end of the pedal axel is inserted into the matching opening and locked into place, the pedal cannot be removed without an unlocking agent. With an unlocking agent, the pedal is easily removed without tools. The pedal can be reversibly mounted on the crank so that the bicycle cannot be pedaled away, or so that the pedal can be stowed during transport or storage. The pedal cannot rotate in the crank as a result of polygonal faces and/or splines on the mounting end that resist rotation. A physical stop can be used control the symmetry of insertion into the opening which facilitates reversible mounting.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 3, 2010Publication date: November 24, 2011Inventor: Geoffrey Paul Weber
