Abstract: A print document processing system includes a cache apparatus and plural data processing apparatuses. Each data processing apparatus includes an image data creating unit and a reservation request transmission unit. The cache apparatus includes a cache memory, a memory, and an area reservation unit. The image data creating unit creates image data for each document element of print document data. The memory stores use condition information and cache priority of the document element for each document element. Upon receipt of a reservation request for reserving a storage area for image data of a first document element from a data processing apparatus, the area reservation unit reserves the storage area by selecting a second document element, which has a lower cache priority than the first document element and which is currently being used by any of the data processing apparatuses, as a document element to be evicted from the cache memory.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for compensating for spatial non-uniformities in a printer by deriving a true spatial non-uniformity tone response curve (TRC) that characterizes the printer in terms of color output variation for each addressable pixel location in a spatial range. The “true average” tone response curve is determined for a color channel. A prediction of the true response as a function of the spatial location is derived by printing and scanning a specially designed halftone-independent target of binary patterns. The predicted tone response curve for each color channel and halftone is predicted using a binary printer model, wherein the “predicted tone response curve” provides a model based approximation of the actual response for each addressable pixel location in the spatial range. Also stored is an “average predicted tone response” by averaging the “predicted tone response curve” over the spatial range of the printer.

Abstract: Described is a method of controlling the absorption of light in a cavity, a system in which absorption is so controlled, and an interferometer embodying the underlying physical concept. Materials can be made to completely absorb incident light when the light is imposed in a specific pattern of illumination. Coherent perfect absorption, as the process is referred to, is achieved when a cavity is illuminated coherently and monochromatically by the time-reverse of the output of a lasing mode. Varying the parameters of the incident light and/or of the cavity allows the absorption of the incident light by the cavity to be controlled; enhanced or even reduced.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for an electromechanical system. In one aspect, an electromechanical interferometric modulator system includes a substrate and a plurality of interferometric modulators (IMODs). At least two different IMOD types correspond to different reflected colors. Each IMOD has an optical stack, an absorber layer, a movable reflective layer, where the movable reflective layer has at least open and collapsed states, and an air gap defined between the movable reflective layer and the optical stack in the open state. The optical stacks define different optical path lengths for each of the different IMOD types by way of different transparent layer thickness and/or material, while the air gap has the same size when in the open state. The IMODs reflect different colors in the closed state and a common appearance in the open state. Use of two absorbers aids in defining the common appearance in the open state and can also improve color saturation.
