Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image holding member, a transfer unit, a fixing unit, a transport unit, a transfer-performance-detection toner image forming unit, a density detection unit, and a selector. A toner image is held on the image holding member. The transfer unit transfers the toner image onto a recording medium. The fixing unit fixes the toner image onto the recording medium. The transport unit reverses the recording medium onto which the toner image has been fixed, and transports the reversed recording medium back to the transfer unit. The transfer-performance-detection toner image forming unit forms plural transfer-performance-detection toner images with different transfer settings of the transfer unit. The density detection unit detects densities of plural transfer-performance-detection toner images. The selector selects a transfer setting of the transfer unit in accordance with a detection result obtained by the density detection unit.

Abstract: A lateral motion inhibitor assembly, a drill press incorporating the inhibitor and a method of using the same. The inhibitor assembly includes a clamping assembly which fixedly engages a vertical support column of the drill press, a connector assembly which fixedly engages a horizontally-oriented drill press table; and a plate assembly which extends between and is pivotally secured to both the clamping and connector assemblies. The plate assembly includes a first plate and second plate that are pivotally secured together. The inhibitor assembly restrains the table and drill against lateral movement relative to each other when the table's vertical position on the support column is changed. The inhibitor assembly ensures that both an initial drill hole and a subsequent drill hole are drilled in substantially the same location on a workpiece supported on the table.

Abstract: Modular machine tools, modular machine-tool beds, and systems for assembling the same are disclosed. Some machine tools and beds may be configured selectively between a cantilever configuration and a gantry configuration. Some modular beds may be assembled selectively to have a desired longitudinal length. The modular nature of the machine tools and modular beds allows users to configure a machine tool in multiple configurations depending on a particular work piece needing to be worked.

Abstract: Fastener embodiments include a housing body, a collet body and a central body. The housing body receives a first portion of the collet body, which has internal threads and an external anti-rotation feature, as well as a first portion of the central body. A second portion of the collet body and an exterior portion of the housing body provide work piece contacting surfaces. The central body, which occupies an inner portion of the housing body, is threadably coupled to the collet body and displaces and/or converges radially displaceable portions of the collet body at the second portion thereof. Interaction between the collet body anti-rotation feature and the housing body, which may be a pair of extending pins engaging a pair of slots, prevents rotation of the collet body within the housing body during rotation of the central body, while axial movement thereof remains unaffected within intended operation parameters.

A part has a through-hole, and a wall part positioned on an outer perimeter of the through hole and extending toward the direction of insertion of the shaft part. A base has an installation hole allowing insertion of the shaft part. When the base and the part are bound by insertion of the shaft part, the flange is pressed against the wall part and becomes in a bent-back state.

The insert has a tubular body of lesser outside dimension than the aperture, and a hollow interior receiving a threaded stud projecting from the component. The tubular body has a flexible lip engaging the panel and first and second retaining fingers having first shoulders engaging the bottom surface of the panel and second shoulders engaging with opposed parallel extending sidewalls of the aperture to prevent rotation of the tubular body. First and second biasing fingers project from the tubular body to engage opposed curved end walls of the aperture to a bias the tubular body within the aperture as allowed by sliding of the second shoulders along the opposed parallel extending sidewalls. A plurality of ratchet fingers extends into the hollow interior to engage the stud when the stud is installed into the insert.

Abstract: A screw comprises a head and a rod extended downward from the head. The rod has a tip at a distal end and a round thread spirally extended upward from the tip. The round thread is an asymmetric thread and has serrated cutting edges extended upward from the tip and formed along a circumference in a desired distance. The rod also has a cutting thread with a plurality of spiral cutting edges spirally extended upward from the tip in the same spiral direction as that of the round thread. When the screw is screwed into a workpiece, the asymmetric thread can effectively reduce resistance of screwing. Further, the serrated cutting edges and the cutting thread of the invention can increase the cutting effect. Thereby, the screw of the invention enables the user to fasten workpieces faster with less effort.
