Abstract: A metal member 1 and a resin member 2 are brought into contact with each other without interposing a resin layer between the metal member 1 and the resin member 2. A rotation tool 10, which is being rotated, is pressed against the surface 1a of the metal member 1 in an inclined state so that the inclination angle ? of the axis Q of the rotation tool 10 relative to the normal line P of the surface 1a of the metal member 1 satisfies the condition of 0°<??5°. This applies friction energy to the metal member 1 to join the metal member 1 and the resin member 2.

Abstract: A method for transporting a vehicle having a wheel and a flexible underbody component, such as an air dam or skirt, adjacent the wheel. A chock including at least one wheel positioning bump is placed on a deck of the transporter vehicle (railway car, road vehicle, ship, aircraft, etc.) with the bump projecting upwardly from the deck to contact the wheel when the vehicle is in a pre-tie-down position. The chock further includes a sloped portion extending from positioning bump(s) to be located between the flexible underbody component and the deck. As the vehicle is urged downwardly to a tied-down position, the flexible underbody component contacts the sloped portion and is deflected either away from or toward the wheel to protect it from damaging contact with the deck.

On the inner body, rear-latching lugs are formed on spring arms, which rear-latching lugs fix an attachment component on a carrier part in a variable position of the inner body in relation to the outer body, which variable position is assumed so as to compensate for tolerances, as soon as a screw has been screwed into a screw receiving space of the inner body. This results in a secure hold with very simple handling.

Abstract: A screw includes a positioning member defined on inclined cutting planes of a drilling portion of the screw for allowing a cutting edge constructed at a convergence of the cutting planes to cut stably and efficiently. A main threaded section formed on a shank of the screw is extended to connect with one end of the cutting edge. The positioning member helps the screw fixedly stand on an object. The cutting edge and the cutting planes allow cutting debris to be swiftly and smoothly extruded therefrom into the main threaded section for avoiding the accumulation of considerable cutting debris. Thereby, the screwing resistance is reduced and the drilling speed is promoted. Preferably, the fastened screw is firmly sunk in the object, and the fastening operation is completed successfully.
