  • Patent number: 8993870
Abstract: A solar tracker is provided to fix an altitude angle until the altitude of the sun secedes from a predetermined range after matching the altitude through once driving of one shaft that tracks the altitude angle and to drive only the other shaft that tracks an east-west azimuth angle in daily repetition in a state where the altitude angle of the sun, which is repeatedly changed according to seasons of the year in the range of the winter solstice having the lowest altitude angle and the summer solstice having the highest altitude angle, has an extremely small diurnal change, whereas the azimuth angle of the sun is repeatedly changed in one direction, that is, from sunup to sundown, in a day. Accordingly, consumption of firm power of a driving unit for tracking the sun can be minimized, and the operating and management costs of the device can be reduced.

Abstract: A concentrating lens array according to the present disclosure includes a plurality of unit structures arranged at least one-dimensionally. Each unit structure includes: a first surface through which light enters inside of the structure; a second surface which reflects the light that has entered the structure through the first surface; a third surface which reflects the light that has been reflected from the second surface; and a fourth surface which lets the light that has been reflected from the third surface go out of the structure. In each unit structure, the second and third surfaces are located between an incident plane including the first surface and an emitting plane including the fourth surface. At least one of the second and third surfaces reflects the light after having converged the incoming light.

Abstract: A photovoltaic cell having multiple stacked layers has a thickness from the top of its top layer to the bottom of its bottom layer of less than one micron. Metal conducting layers are positioned between semiconductor layers with semiconductor layers having higher bandgaps being located above semiconductor layers having lower band gaps. The layers of the photovoltaic cell are arranged and stacked, and the thicknesses and materials for the semiconductor layers and conductive layers are selected to realize desired absorption, transmission, and reflection characteristics. The geometry and thicknesses of the respective layers of the cell allows incident light of various angles to be absorbed by all of the semiconductor layers of the cell.

Abstract: A solar battery module has a structure in which a solar battery cell formed by a transparent electrode, a power generating element, and a back electrode is formed on a substrate, and it is sealed with a resin material such as EVA. However, there has been a problem that water enters from a gap between the substrate and a resin sealing material, thereby resulting in the corrosion of the resin or the solar battery cell. A barrier layer made of inorganic substances having portions in contact with the substrate and the second electrode is provided. Here, the barrier layer is formed by laminating at least SiO2 and an inorganic layer having a lower density than SiO2, and the film having a lower density than SiO2 is directly formed on the substrate and the second electrode.
