  • Patent number: 9008081
Abstract: Methods and systems for extending the IMS/SIP architecture of the NGN to provide QoS service to generic bearer flows. QoS treatment of a bearer flow destined to a non-SIP client attached to the network via an attachment segment connected to an attachment gateway is supported. A SIP-INVITE message is received in respect of the bearer flow. The SIP-INVITE message contains a Universal Resource Identifier (URI) identifying the non-SIP client as a destination of the bearer flow. An attempt is made to install a QoS policy on the attachment segment in accordance with a Traffic Specification (T-Spec) identified in the SIP-INVITE message, and the result of the installation attempt detected. A appropriate SIP messaging is generated on behalf of the non-SIP client, to either accept or refuse the bearer flow, based on the detected result.

  • Patent number: 9008082
Abstract: A method applied in a routing node, and a forwarding engine implemented in a routing node, are provided for handling data packets received at the routing node. A N-tuple comprising N elements is extracted from a first header of a data packet. A default meta-field is added to the N elements, providing a N+1-tuple. The N+1-tuple is used to make a first lookup of inspection rules. The default meta-field makes the inspection rules apply to the first header. The data packet is handled according to a result of the first lookup, wherein a possible outcome is a finding of a second header within the data packet. If a second header is found, a new meta-field value is set and a second lookup is made. The second lookup of the inspection rules is made according to N elements from the second header and the new value of the meta-field.

  • Patent number: 9008088
Abstract: Forwarding state is installed for sparse multicast trees in a link state protocol controlled Ethernet network by enabling intermediate nodes to install state for one or more physical multicast trees, each of which may have multiple logical multicast trees mapped to it. By mapping multiple logical multicasts to a particular physical multicast, and installing state for the physical multicast, fewer FIB entries are required to implement the multiple multicasts. Mapping may be performed by destination nodes before advertising membership in the physical multicast, or may be performed by the intermediate nodes before installing state when a destination node advertises membership in a logical multicast. Intermediate nodes will install state for the physical multicast tree if they are on a shortest path between a source and at least one destination of one of the logical multicasts that has been mapped to the physical multicast.

  • Patent number: 9008089
Abstract: A technique allows stations to utilize an equal share of resources (e.g., airtime or throughput). This prevents slow stations from consuming too many resources (e.g., using up too much air time). Fairness is ensured by selective dropping after a multicast packet is converted to unicast. This prevents slow stations from using more than their share of buffer resources. Multicast conversion aware back-pressure into the network layer can be used to prevent unnecessary dropping of packets after multicast to unicast (1:n) conversion by considering duplicated transmit buffers. This technique helps achieve airtime/resource fairness among stations.

  • Patent number: 9008096
Abstract: Among other things, one or more techniques and/or system are provided for routing a data packet. Because the data packet may correspond to a source device having an address on a first network that may be similar to an address of a second device on a second network, the data packet may be translated to create a transformed data packet that may be distinguishable from data packets of the second device. For example, the data packet may be translated from a first address format, such as IPv4, to a second address format, such as IPv6, to create a transformed data packet. The transformed data packet may comprise a prefix that may distinctly identify the source device during routing. In this way, the transformed data packet may be identifiable as corresponding to the source device during routing through a network to a destination device.

  • Patent number: 9008104
Abstract: A non-transitory processor-readable medium is provided that stores code representing instructions to be executed by a processor to filter data associated with an entity for a first predefined time period in response to an access by the entity at a first time to a preselected network location from a plurality of preselected network locations. The plurality of preselected network locations are associated with forced web traffic patterns. The processor is also caused to filter data associated with the entity for a second predefined time period in response to an access by the entity at a second time to a preselected network location from the plurality of preselected network locations during the first predefined time period. The second time is after the first time.

  • Patent number: 9008107
Abstract: Meeting and conferencing systems and methods are implemented in a variety of manners. Consistent with an embodiment of the present disclosure, a method for operating an audio conference system that includes at least one logic circuit and a caller interface involves receiving incoming telephony calls at the caller interface. A logic circuit is used to authenticate incoming telephony calls. Menu options are provided to authenticated, incoming telephony calls. In response to a selection of the menu options, an incoming telephony call is prompted to select a callback number. The logic circuit monitors for a trigger event. A participant is called back using the selected call back number in response to detecting the trigger event. The called-back participant is then placed into a conference.

  • Patent number: 9008108
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments of a network switch for storing a prefix address and a mask corresponding to the prefix address, the prefix address and the mask each representing a binary value, the mask representing a number of significant bits of an address beginning with a most significant bit. The network switch obtains a network frame via one of a plurality of network interfaces, the network frame comprising a network address in a header of the network frame, the network address being a binary value representing a physical address of a network interface device. The network switch determines a truth value associated with a comparison of a mask number of bits of the prefix and network addresses, the truth value indicating an equivalence of the comparison. In response to the truth value, the network switch may initiate at least one action associated with the network frame.
