Publication number: 20170008459Abstract: A retractable vehicle step is attachable to a vehicle or truck. The vehicle step facilitates access to a cargo hold, interior, or roof of the vehicle. Advantageously, the vehicle step may provide clearance space relative to a tailgate of the vehicle by displacing a stepping member of the vehicle step in a generally lateral direction. The vehicle step desirably has a covered and protected biasing mechanism for transitioning between retracted and extended positions of the stepping member. Advantageously, the vehicle step may be pulled out from under the vehicle by the foot of a user. Another advantage is that the vehicle step is readily attachable to the vehicle using already existing connection members, thereby generally eliminating or mitigating the need for customized retrofitting and avoiding undesirable installation cost and time. Finally, the vehicle step may be configured into at least two different arrangements for attachment to a vehicle utilizing the same components.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 19, 2016Publication date: January 12, 2017Inventors: Horst Leitner, Anthony Smith

Publication number: 20170008498Abstract: A wheel chock includes a convex load surface configured to be engaged by a vehicle tire. The resultant force exerted by the vehicle tire on the wheel chock can be expressed as a vector normal to the convex surface, at a contact angle ?. As dynamic loading forces push the vehicle into the wheel chock, the tire rides up the convex surface of the chock, thereby increasing the contact angle ?. For contact angles greater than 45°, the vertical component of the resultant force will increase, and the horizontal component will decrease. The net effect is that, under dynamic loading, the chock will tend to anchor itself downwards rather than slide backwards or tip over. Also disclosed is a chock extractor secured to the wheel chock. Rotating the extractor handle in turn rotates an extractor foot, which pivots and lifts the wheel chock off the ground to disengage the chock.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2015Publication date: January 12, 2017Inventors: Donald L. Publication number: 20170008501Abstract: An arrangement of motor vehicle units includes a vacuum pump, a power brake unit, a pump which pumps a hydraulic fluid with a control pressure, and a control valve. The vacuum pump comprises a pump rotor, a coupling element, a control connection, a coupling arrangement switchable by the control connection to lock/unlock the coupling element with the pump rotor, and a suction connection. The power brake unit comprises a negative pressure chamber connected with the suction connection. The control valve, when unlocked, switches the control pressure of the hydraulic fluid through to the control connection to unlock. The control valve comprises an actuator acted on by a pressure of the negative pressure chamber which switches the control pressure through to the control connection if the pressure in the negative pressure chamber is greater than a threshold pressure so that the switchable control valve is switched into its unlocked state.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2013Publication date: January 12, 2017Applicant: PIERBURG PUMP TECHNOLOGY GMBHInventor: SEBASTIAN CRAMER

Publication number: 20170008504Abstract: A device for operating an all-wheel-drive agricultural commercial vehicle with a driven rear axle and a front axle that can be engaged for performing an all-wheel-drive mode. A control unit determines, during the all-wheel-drive mode, a front wheel slip parameter that characterizes a drive wheel slip occurring on the front axle of the agricultural commercial vehicle. The control unit deactivates the all-wheel-drive mode independent of the driver if this unit detects that the determined front wheel slip parameter is greater than a specified threshold value.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2016Publication date: January 12, 2017Inventors: THOMAS WOOPEN, FLORIAN REINMUTH

Publication number: 20170008508Abstract: At a time of HV traveling entailing a load operation of an engine in a CD mode, an electronic control unit sets a required torque Tr* by using a map for a CS mode, in which the required torque Tr* is set to be lower than in a map for the CD mode, as at a time of the CS mode. Then, the electronic control unit control the engine and a motor for traveling in accordance with the required torque Tr*. Accordingly, a rise in the required torque Tr* can be suppressed compared to setting of the required torque Tr* using the map for the CD mode and a sense of high-rpm idling attributable to a rise in a rotation speed of the engine can be inhibited from being felt by a driver.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 1, 2016Publication date: January 12, 2017Applicant: TOYOTA JIDOSHA KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventor: Keita SATO
