  • Patent number: 6186061
Abstract: A plurality of hydrostatic bearing pads are each integrally formed in a respective pin or journal member being used within a mechanical press machine. The hydrostatic bearing pads are supplied with pressurized fluid sufficient to create a combined hydrostatic and hydrodynamic effect between the opposed bearing surfaces of the pin and an associated bushing. The hydrostatic bearing pads are used in conjunction with rotational and oscillating bearings in which relatively little rotation, oscillation, or slow rotational speeds exist or where it is desired to minimize the effects of hydrodynamic action which creates bearing “lift off” on journal bearings. These types of bearings are particularly associated with crankshaft and connection journal bearings, connection pins, and pivot pins used by a rocker-type coupling assembly that couples a weight assembly to the press machine piston or slide assembly or drive assembly.

  • Patent number: 6152028
Abstract: Machine for press work, or for example work in a drilling machine with a press (1) which can easily be raised, lowered and tilted in relation to its body (2). The work lights (4) follow the movement of the press up and down. The shelves (5) for material which is to be processed in the press also follows the press (1) when it is raised and lowered. The same is valid for the manoeuvre boxes (6). Thus you can handle the machine both in sitting and standing position, and very easily change between various working postures. The press table (3) is thin and hangs in the press (1) which hangs in the body (2) so that the operator can sit at the press table (3) and work in the same posture as at a desk. The top part of the press tool is fixed in the tool holder (7), the lower part of the press tool is fixed in the press table (3).

  • Patent number: 6095151
Abstract: A flat base anchored to any hard, smooth surface by two suction cups. Upon this flat base, two shafts rise perpendicular. The base supports a housing which fits over the base shafts. The housing has an opening which accommodates a standard pack of cigarettes, which are placed in the opening top or filter first. Two springs are located above the housing on the base shafts to create tension. Rubber caps at the top of the base shafts, aided with epoxy, contains the springs and housing to the base of the invention so that once the housing is pulled upward by one's hand the housing then is forced down toward the base from the tension of the springs and consequently "packing" the cigarettes.

Abstract: In a press having a lower stationary platen, an upper movable platen, a hydraulic ram that travels with the upper platen, light-duty cylinders that position the upper platen, and a gate mechanism that closes above the ram to permit the ram to drive the upper platen during compression phases of operation, method and apparatus for adjusting the clearance between the upper and lower platens. A number of cylindrical spacers can be distributed, as desired, between an upper end of the ram and a spacer retaining mechanism located above the gate mechanism. The spacers are shaped to vertically interlock to form a stable stack atop the ram. The retaining mechanism extends downwardly from an upper cross-head of the press and is received in the interior of the stack of spacers. The retaining mechanism has spring-biased locking members that can locate below an internal lip of any spacer.

  • Patent number: 5001977
Abstract: A removable, self-powered trash compactor particularly suited for aircraft tray carts. The compactor includes a rechargeable battery to power a motor that drives a screw drive connected with a scissor type extension linkage attached to a platen designed to permit the passage of liquids around said platen to minimize pressure exerted on walls and floor of container, carts and carriers. The food service tray guides support a plastic or fiberboard sheet to restrain resilient waste matter from returning to its original shape and permitting a disposable flexible liner to interfold underneath the compactor and surround the compactor until the first cycle wherein the liner unfolds and encompasses the cart, carrier or container space, thereby obtaining the compactor to support the disposable liner and permitting the fitting of an interfolded cover over the entire compactor inside the liner to permit the compactor to compress waste and keep waste matter from contact with the compactor mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 4976400
Abstract: Epoxy tooling which inherently expands and contracts with temperature changes for making parts of metal or plastic has elongated rods extending through guide tubes within the tooling and compression washers or plates on opposite sides thereof. These compression devices for strengthening the tool can be selectively adjusted toward and away from one another using nuts threaded on the rods for varying the compression load on the tooling in accordance with varying tool operating loads, working temperatures and amounts of expansion or contraction. Epoxy tools for molding plastics are heated and expanded to a working temperature and then compressively loaded in selected areas prior to molding operations to prevent tool stress cracking or epoxy tools for metal stamping are compressively loaded and supported in selected areas of high tensile stress and operated at room temperatures for high load metal stamping without fracture.

  • Patent number: 4947673
Abstract: Underdrive power presses are provided with arrangements where the slide mechanism is removable transversely through spaced apart hollow side uprights of the press frame. Pull rods extending from the press drive mechanism are located within the hollow uprights. Movable crossheads are slidably mounted with respect to the uprights above the slide and provide means in a dual action press for independently coupling an inner slide and outer slide within the opening between uprights. Since the slide connections are disposed beneath the movable crossheads and dimensioned narrower than the upright opening, the slide mechanism can be uncoupled and transversely moved outside of the press frame through an upright opening.

  • Patent number: 4922744
Abstract: The punch machine comprises a U-shaped member having an upper leg, a lower leg and a crosspiece to thereby form a U-shaped work space open on the front side of the punch machine but closed on the rear side by the crosspiece between the upper leg and the lower leg, a punch piston-cylinder unit with a punch tool mounted in the upper leg and a die-bearing member and/or a workpiece receiving member mounted in the lower leg. At least the upper leg experiences a bending moment and a resultant elastic deformation caused by the punching force occurring during the punching operation. To reduce the deformation, a tie bar connects both the lower and the upper legs located horizontally between the crosspiece and the punch piston-cylinder unit. This tie bar passes through or by the work space. It may be moved horizontally according to the punching force to reduce the elastic deformation. Also a process is described for operating the punch machine which keeps the bending moment constant.

  • Patent number: 4896594
Abstract: A drawing installation for a press which has to produce the holding force for the counter-holding during the drawing. The drawing ram displaces the sheet metal part and the sheet metal holder against the holding force to be produced by the drawing installation and must additionally overcome the inertia forces which occur as a result of the acceleration of the parts of the drawing installation at the beginning of the deformation of the sheet metal part. In order to avoid the forces which occur thereby impact-like, the piston rod transmitting the holding force is pre-accelerated in the drawing direction prior to the contact of the drawing ram on the sheet metal holder. The piston rod has an operating surface adapted to be acted upon in the drawing direction. The pressure space coordinated to the operating surface is adapted to be connected with a pressure quantity space of a pre-acceleration cylinder and with a reservoir by way of a follow-up control.
