Patent number: 7875152Abstract: A torn paper web capture system that is a mechanism for securing a band, tape or strap, preferably composed of paper, across a paper roll as the roll is rotating. A sensor means detects the torn paper web and initiates both the shut down of rotation of the paper roll and the release of the band. The band resides within a guide track, the track being generally C-shaped in cross-section Upon contact with spool journal or similar rotating member the end of the band adheres and is wrapped around the rotating member. This wrapping action takes up the slack in the band and pulls it from the guide track and against the paper web, thereby securing the loose end of the paper web. The contact between the band and the rotating member may be initiated in multiple ways, such as with a nip roller, an actuating shoe member, or the like.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2008Date of Patent: January 25, 2011Inventor: Peter A. Patent number: 7383771Abstract: A web-fed rotary printing unit having a plurality of printing mechanisms is provided. Each printing mechanism includes a form cylinder (1, 5, 16-18, 27-30), a transfer cylinder (2, 6, 3, 7, 12-15, 22-25) and a separate or common impression cylinder (3, 7, 11, 26). Stress torques acting on the drive motors can be eliminated to the greatest possible extent by providing a drive motor that has a drive connection to the further cylinders via the impression cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2004Date of Patent: June 10, 2008Assignee: MAN Roland Druckmaschinen AGInventors: Alfons Baintner, Max Eder

Patent number: 7334519Abstract: A rotary press is provided. In the rotary press, tension of paper passing through printing units is always maintained to be constant, and position of a printing pin of each printing unit is consistently maintained to thus prevent a pin secession phenomenon of a printed image from occurring, in such a manner that an output image of the rotary press becomes clear. Also, it is easy to change the structure of a one-side color printing rotary press into that of a double-side color printing rotary press. As a result, the rotary press can be used widely on a general purpose.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2004Date of Patent: February 26, 2008Inventor: Chung Cho
