  • Patent number: 6904843
Abstract: An anti-jam bezel is provided for dispensing a flexible substrate from an output slot. The output slot has a front portion for outputting the flexible substrate and a rear portion for receiving the flexible substrate from a transport. A guideway diverges away from the rear portion of the output slot toward the transport to provide a substrate receiving opening. When in use, the bezel body is mounted adjacent the transport with a cavity between the transport and the rear portion of the output slot. The guideway is adapted to catch a leading edge of the substrate exiting the transport, and guide the leading edge to the output slot. The folding machine folds the printed web supplied from the printing unit. The dancer roller retreats from and advances to a web traveling path between the printing unit and the folding machine, during printing and plate mounting, respectively, to come into contact with the web. The motor selectively, rotatably drives the winding roll in a reel-out direction and a winding direction. The tension detection unit detects a tension of the web between the winding roll and the printing unit. The control unit controls the motor on the basis of a detection result of the tension detection unit during plate mounting.

Abstract: A device for guiding a travelling web comprises a first movable angle bar and a second movable angle bar located in respective positions in a first operative mode to guide the travelling web from an entering direction to an exiting direction and to define a first print-to-cut registration setting. In a second operative mode the exiting direction of the travelling web is changed and the print-to-cut register is maintained, whereas in a third operative mode the print-to-cut register is changed and the exiting direction is maintained.

  • Patent number: 6701837
Abstract: To stably transport an elongated web-like print paper so as not to move in the widthwise direction of the print paper, a first sensor is disposed at a first position in a paper conveying path and a second sensor at a second position downstream of the first position with respect to the paper conveying direction. Both the first and second sensors detect a position of a side edge or the print paper. A difference between the outputs from the first and second sensors is computed while taking a travel time of the edge detected by the first sensor to reach the second sensor into account. A main controller generates a drive signal based on the difference computed and controls a mechanism for moving the print paper in the widthwise direction in accordance with the drive signal.

  • Patent number: 6684777
Abstract: The device for the control of blowing air is connected to a compressed-air source and it includes at least one outflow orifice. The device has a valve element which is moveable into a first position in which blowing air flows from the compressed-air source at least through a first duct to the outflow orifice and which is moveable into a second position in which blowing air flows from the compressed-air source at least through a second duct to the outflow orifice. A volume flow through the second duct is greater than a volume flow through the first duct. The device is formed as a basic body which is constructed in such a way that a plurality of such basic bodies can be assembled to form a blowing-air body, such as a turner bar in a printing machine.

  • Patent number: 6684776
Abstract: A method for determining the presence of slipping of a driven nip roller relative to the web in a web printing press includes systematically changing the speed of the nip driver while monitoring the corresponding change in web tension difference across the nip. The linearity and a slope of the relationship between the tension difference and the speed of the nip driver are determined. When the tension difference is non-linear relative to the speed of the driver or the slope of the relationship is substantially less than an expected slope, then slipping is determined to be present. An operator slip indication may be provided which includes the direction of the slip, positive or negative. The operator may then take corrective action to re-establish a non-slip condition, or automatic corrective actions may ensue.
