Patent number: 7484461Abstract: A trolley for transporting objects hanging from an I-beam normally securely grips or latches to the I-beam via a pair of brake pads that are urged upward against the bottom of the beam by a torsion spring. The torsion spring is released by pulling a lever downward. Applying lateral force to the trolley, preferably by applying a lateral force to the same lever, pulls the trolley along the I-beam as the wheels engaging the upper portion of the I-beam can rotate freely once the brake pads are released. Releasing the lever after the trolling is pulled to the desired location causes the brakes to again firmly grip the I-beam.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2006Date of Patent: February 3, 2009Inventor: James K Britcher

Publication number: 20030000413Abstract: A movable body (9) movable on a given path (4) is provided with a support section (30) for an object to be carried. Supports (50) for supporting, from below, an object to be carried are disposed in the lower portion of the support section (30) on the right and left sides thereof such that a support position can be changed. The given path (4) is provided with a changing means (70) positioned between the right and left supports (50) for changing the support position provided by the supports (50). The movable body (9) is moved until it is stopped with the support section (30), which is now empty, opposed to the changing means (70), whereupon the latter is actuated, whereby the support position provided by the supports (50) can be changed. Thus, a plurality of kinds of objects to be carried can each be stably supported. The common changing means (70) simplifies the configuration and operation and enables the support position provided by the right and left supports (50) to be changed quickly and reliably.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 1, 2002Publication date: January 2, 2003Applicant: Daifuku Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masao Arai, Tatsuhiko Sakata, Toshiro Yoneoka, Kei Nakamuta

Patent number: 6494143Abstract: The method and facilities for movement of vehicles over long distances are presented. The Method is comprised of the following steps: (a) connecting at least two main rollers displaced over a long distance: one in a port of departure and one in a port of arrival, by a series of closed-loop, light, strong cable (consisting of one or more loops) located at least in one of the following places: in the air, on the ground surface, on the water surface; (b) supporting said cable by at least one of the following devices: wings, air balloons, columns, rollers; (c) connecting at least one of said main rollers to an engine; (d) running said engine; (e) connecting at least one load vehicle to said cable at departure port; (f) accelerating said vehicle; (g) disconnecting said vehicles from said cable at arrival port; (h) braking said vehicles.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2001Date of Patent: December 17, 2002Inventor: Alexander Alexandrovich Bolonkin

Publication number: 20020152921Abstract: A safety rail system includes a U-bracket for attaching a safety rail to an existing structural member, and an end stop that allows trolleys to be placed on a rail with one hand and removed with two hands, without any removal of bolts and without using any tools. The end stop is in a first position by the force of gravity that prevents a trolley from coming off the end of the rail. When a trolley is to be placed on the rail or removed from the rail, the end stop is pivoted upwards to allow wheels of the trolley to pass below the end stop. The end stop then returns to its normal, lower position, which prevents a trolley from accidentally coming off the end of the rail.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 24, 2001Publication date: October 24, 2002Inventor: Stanley D. Patent number: 6457418Abstract: The invention relates to an overhead conveyor system which includes a rail, at least one carriage which is provided with wheels and which is adapted to run along the rail and support a load suspended from the carriage, a rotatable drive shaft which extends along the rail and is located perpendicularly above the rail, and a drive arranged on each carriage and adapted to drive, in contact with the drive shaft, the carriage along the rail. The drive includes at least one wheel which is inclined relative to the longitudinal direction of the drive shaft and has a contact surface spring-loaded against the drive shaft, the spring load of the drive being independent of the load suspended from the carriage.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2001Date of Patent: October 1, 2002Assignee: OCS Overhead Conveyor System ABInventor: Anders Persson

Publication number: 20020108528Abstract: The installation enables the downhill transportation of passengers from a higher station to a lower station along a rail. Cars that are guided along the rail are equipped with the first of two interacting elements of an electromagnetic braking device, in particular with one or more permanent magnets, and the guide rail being equipped with the second elements, in particular braking strips made from an electrically conductive nonmagnetizable material, such as copper or aluminum, which interact with said first elements of the braking device. Each car is equipped with one or more first elements with an operating brake that is adjustable as a function of its load, and with one or more first elements of a safety brake that is activatable during downhill travel.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 1, 2002Publication date: August 15, 2002Inventor: Reinhard Albrich

Patent number: 6427601Abstract: The installation conveys persons from a valley station to a mountain station and for carries individuals from the mountain station to the valley station via carriages that are guided along a track formed by a running rail. The installation has a cableway system with a haulage cable and transport assemblies that can be coupled thereto and are intended for persons and for conveying devices that convey the carriages from the valley station to the mountain station. The haulage cable is guided over cable-deflecting pulleys in the valley station and in the mountain station. Guide rails are provided in the valley station and in the mountain station along which the conveying devices and transport assemblies, uncoupled from the haulage cable, are guided around the cable-deflecting pulleys with conveying wheels. Bypass rails are connected to the guide rails via diverters both in the valley station and in the mountain station.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2001Date of Patent: August 6, 2002Assignee: Innova Patent GmbHInventor: Reinhard Albrich

Patent number: 6412757Abstract: A shock absorbing apparatus that absorbs a shock produced by an abutment of a traveler on a stop member when the traveler is brought to a stop at a predetermined position includes a leaf spring arranged adjacent the stop member in a substantially face-to-face relationship with a guideway. A free end of the leaf spring abuts slightly with the guideway or with a slight clearance from the guideway. A mid portion of the leaf spring is curved gradually from the guideway. The traveler is provided with a contact portion that passes over the free end of the leaf spring to contact with the curved mid portion before the traveler abuts with the stop member at the predetermined position.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2001Date of Patent: July 2, 2002Assignee: Toyotsu Eng. & Mfg. Publication number: 20020066388Abstract: A load bearing material handling system including a rail having a hanger portion, a body portion defining a conduit extending for at least a portion of the length of the rail and a flange portion adapted to movably support a trolley thereupon. A splice connector may be disposed between adjacent, sequential ones of a plurality of rail segments which are coupled together to define the rail. The rail supports a pneumatic trolley having a pair of opposed frame members and a housing extending therebetween and which is adapted to supply air to a pneumatically actuated tool which is movably supported by the trolley along the rail. The rail may also support a load bearing trolley. Both the pneumatic and load bearing trolleys include opposed frame members having at least one trolley wheel adapted for rolling contact with a runway surface on the rail and at least one safety lug which projects over the plane of the runway surface of the rail so as to prevent the trolley from being inadvertently removed from the rail.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 15, 2001Publication date: June 6, 2002Inventors: Blake Taylor, Gary Haas, Stan Owsen
