  • Publication number: 20110162720
Abstract: A sealing water agent can prevent evaporation of sealing water. Water alone is conventionally used for sealing water. An oil component and a surfactant can be used for the sealing water agent, which can be applied to a sealing water pipe, effectively preventing evaporation of the scaling water. All oil layers and all emulsified layers can be formed. As a result, the scaling water can be effectively prevented from evaporating. Furthermore, when the sealing water is discharged, the surfactant can emulsify the oil layer so that the sealing water agent can be discharged effectively.

  • Patent number: 7563826
Abstract: Emulsions are provided which are useful in imparting water-resistance to lignocellulosic products. In one embodiment, the emulsions contain a nonsaponifiable wax, a saponified wax, an alkyl phenol component, a dispersant/surfactant such as a salt of polynaphthalenesulfonic acid, and a carboxymethylcellulose. Such emulsions may be added to hot, even boiling, water without the emulsion separating of curdling. Various embodiments are stable for extended periods of time when stored at room temperature, do not require the addition of a preservative biocide to avoid contributing to biodegradation in a lignocellulosic product. The emulsions are pourable liquids at room temperature. Optionally, the emulsions may be added to lignocellulosic products with a preservative to inhibit the preservative from leaching out.

  • Patent number: 6743756
Abstract: Liquid suspensions of particles in non-aqueous solvents are extremely stable over long periods of time with minimum separation of the solvent and no hard packing of the dispersed particles. The suspensions enable a user to rapidly add the suspension to water and to mix at low speeds without generating fugitive dust in the process. In addition, a liquid dispersion can provide an easy to use liquid containing higher concentrations of the active dispersed phase than can be accomplished by simply preparing an aqueous solution of the dispersed phase. Alternatively, highly water-soluble particles may also be suspended which have poor storage, freeze/thaw, or heat/cool stability. In some cases, liquid dispersions can yield controlled release of the dispersed phase because the dispersed phase is not in aqueous solution. The suspensions are environmentally safe and biodegradable and may be used in environmentally sensitive applications, such as for oil well treating fluids for offshore areas.
