Patent number: 10517417Abstract: The present invention teaches a residential curbside mailbox with enhanced box handling capability, openable by barcode scanning, and with interchangeable bonnets. A body which is generally column shaped has front and rear doors which open at the top and hinge near the bottom and which have interleaved fingers or members extending from the bottom ends into the interior space of the mailbox. A box tray sits on the interleaved fingers. When either door is opened the fingers of that door lift the box tray upward and out of the box on that side. Thus a delivery person may access a box without leaving a delivery vehicle, while the homeowner may do the same without leaving the safety of the yard. In addition, an elastic cord and carefully slanted slots on side panels of the front door allow easy retention of a box even further up the front door.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2018Date of Patent: December 31, 2019Inventors: Jeffrey Robert Kutas, Brian Lang

Patent number: 5284101Abstract: An improved night depository for depositing an article through the wall of a building into a safe. The depository includes a casing that is mounted within an opening in the wall and a receptacle pivotally mounted about a horizontal axis within the casing. The receptacle includes a door, two vertical sides, and a floor. One end of a movable wall is pivotably mounted to the outboard end of the receptacle floor. When the receptacle is rotated about the horizontal axis to open the door the unattached end of the movable wall pivots towards the receptacle floor. The receptacle sides are separated from the edges of the movable wall by a clearance that is sufficiently small enough to impede the flow of air about the edges of the movable wall as the movable wall pivots. The air underneath the movable wall escapes through a gap between the unattached end of the movable wall and the door at a rate which cushions the impact of the unattached end against the receptacle floor.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1991Date of Patent: February 8, 1994Assignee: Mosler Incorporated, A Corp. of DeInventors: Charles D. Patent number: 5156030Abstract: An improved key safe for a door wherein the door has a hole therethrough. A hollow key holder is shiftably mounted in the hole. A spring exerts a bias force against the key holder in the hole of the door so that the key holder and key held thereby will be automatically ejected into an adjacent room and become completely inaccessible to an intruder. Ejection of the holder occurs when a hold-down means at the opposite end of the holder is forced off the holder in any manner, such as by using a crowbar, screwdriver or the like. The hold-down means will preferably be an O-ring seated in an annular groove at the opposite end of the holder. When unseated from the groove, the hold-down means moves off the holder, thus permitting the holder to be projected off the door and into the adjacent room under the influence of the bias force of the spring. Since the door is locked, an intruder will be prevented from reaching the key for unlocking the door.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 1991Date of Patent: October 20, 1992Assignee: Otho D.
