Publication number: 20100224112Abstract: A stitch pattern for a word or other design is created using known methods of forming a stitch pattern for the word to be stitched. The horizontal and vertical dimensions of the stitch pattern are then compared to the dimensions of the sewing area. Publication number: 20090126610Abstract: A balancer is fixedly attached to a rotary input shaft of a crank mechanism that converts rotary drive of a needle bar drive source to up-and-down motion of a needle bar. The balancer is caused to rotate at substantially an opposite phase with respect to up-and-down motion of the needle bar with the rotary drive of the needle bar drive source. When the balancer is driven at substantially the opposite phase with respect to the up-and-down motion of the needle bar, inertia force in an up-and-down direction of the needle bar, generated due to the up-and-down motion of the needle bar is negated, whereby it is possible to reduce vibration generated in the up-and-down direction. Sewing heads paired with each other by being arbitrarily combined are controlled so as to be rotationally driven to cause rotational directions of the needle bar drive sources to become opposite directions to each other.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 18, 2008Publication date: May 21, 2009Applicant: TOKAI KOGYO MISHIN KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventor: Satoru SUZUKI

An operating member rotatably supported by the engagement plate is used to disengage the engaging member from the engagement portion of the sewing cartridge. A thread cutting device disposed on the back of the engagement plate is actuated in conjunction with the disengagement of the sewing cartridge using the operating member. With the movement of the operating member after thread cutting operation is completed, a limit switch provided on the engagement plate is turned off, so that a signal is not outputted.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2002Date of Patent: April 8, 2003Assignee: Brother Kogyo KabushikiInventor: Akira Terao

Patent number: 6510360Abstract: A computer is operated to produce an object-based design description file for an embroidery pattern from a vector-based stitch file describing the pattern as a sequence of stitches. The stitch file is analyzed to identify the stitch points qualifying as embroidery edge points at which the stitch direction substantially reverses. A list of these edge points is produced and the stitch file is further analyzed to identify groups of successive edge points in the list wherein the edge points of each group define an embroidery region of area filling type stitches. An object describing the respective embroidery region is then generated from the co-ordinate positions of edge points in a group.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 2000Date of Patent: January 21, 2003Assignee: Viking Sewing Machines ABInventors: Andrew Bennett Kaymer, Martin Bysh

Patent number: 6502006Abstract: A method and system using a novel user display. The user interface device includes a display for an embroidery design. The display is coupled to a micro processing device such as a microprocessor, microcomputer, or the like. The display also has a representation a stitch on a first axis of the display. The display also shows a property of the stitch on a second axis of the display, where the second axis intersects the first axis. Other features can also be included depending upon the application.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2000Date of Patent: December 31, 2002Assignee: Buzz Tools, Inc.Inventors: John S. Laufer, Lisa A. Transparent template for facilitating embroidery alignment using a support frame of a sewing machine
Publication number: 20020189517Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided including a sheet formed of a transparent material. The sheet defines a template capable of having a pattern printed thereon. During use, the template is adapted for being removed from the sheet. Also included is at least a pair of alignment designators that are positioned on the template of the sheet for marking the material. The markings facilitate alignment of the material in a support frame that is adapted for use when embroidering the pattern on the material.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 17, 2002Publication date: December 19, 2002Inventors: Victoria I. Patent number: 6457429Abstract: The display apparatus for a sewing machine of the invention includes a display that displays a stitch pattern thereon, and a sewing order indicator that indicates a sewing order of substantially an entire stitch pattern. Therefore, even when the operator selects, as a stitch pattern, a complex stitch pattern such as a buttonhole stitch pattern, the operator can easily judge if the stitch pattern being sewn is exactly what the operator has selected before the stitch pattern is finished.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2000Date of Patent: October 1, 2002Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shintaro Tomita, Naomi Yamamoto

Patent number: 6445970Abstract: Automatic testing and diagnosing a computerized stitching machine of a stitching system is provided. The system includes one or more programs that test operation of stitching machine components and generate specific error or status messages related to such components. Control panel software can be invoked to allow viewing of detailed status information for various components and the operation of specific components individually. Networking software can be enabled to allow this information to be viewed using a screen display and controlled from a location remote from the site of the stitching machine.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2000Date of Patent: September 3, 2002Assignee: Melco Industries, Inc.Inventors: Dale R. Patent number: 6397120Abstract: A user interface and method are disclosed for manipulating singular regions (termed singularities) for automatic embroidery data generation. A method is already known for automatically interpreting singular regions within an image so that embroidery data can be generated to recreate those singularities in an accurate and aesthetically pleasing manner. By using the present invention a user, with minimal effort, can gain greater control over the interpretation process. At the core of this extension is a single mouse click interface that allows the next best interpretation to be chosen easily. Additionally, the user may more precisely adjust interpretations, and provisions are made that allow automatic re-application of those adjustments to similar singularities encountered later.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 1999Date of Patent: May 28, 2002Inventor: David A. Patent number: 6390005Abstract: A method of filling a defined embroidery pattern shape, with the shape comprising a curve defining the shape, fills the pattern shape with a plurality of turning satin-like embroidery stitches which turn to follow the defined shape. In carrying out the method, the density inset for the next adjacent satin-like embroidery stitch is dynamically varied in accordance with any change in the defined shape from the previous stitch, taking into account the stitch length and stitch angle. The process is iteratively repeated , using the predefined perpendicular distance from the previous stitch end point to the new stitch end point until the defined shape is completely filled.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1998Date of Patent: May 21, 2002Inventors: Benito Chia, Brian Goldberg, Niranjan Mayya, Anastasios Tsonis

Patent number: RE38718Abstract: Disclosed is an embroidery data creating device for creating an embroidery data to be used by a sewing machine. In the embroidery data creating device, an image data, which consists of a plurality of pixel data, corresponding to a line-drawn image is converted into a thin line image, and then closed paths are determined with use of 8-connection method. After embroidery attribution is applied to a path and/or a region defined by each closed path, the paths and/or the regions are converted into the embroidery data.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2001Date of Patent: March 29, 2005Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Masao Futamura
