Abstract: A bottle having a sterility seal and a method for producing same are disclosed. The bottle, which can be configured to retain a medicament in powder or tablet form, features a protective cap configured to engage a transfer assembly associated with the bottle. The cap includes one or more raised ridges on an interior surface engageable with a portion of the transfer assembly. A band or layer configuration of a sealing material such as silicone is applied to the transfer assembly prior to insertion of the cap thereover. As the cap comes into surface contact with the sealing material, the ridges cause the material to "roll up" into a toroidal O-ring configuration, thereby forming a seal between the cap and the bottle adapted to the dimensional variations of those components.

  • Patent number: 4210684
Abstract: Apparatus and methods of applying a thin narrow width coating to can body members comprising a feed control means associated with a guideway means for causing rotating moving of the can body members across an elongated coating applicator roller member extending parallel to the path of movement of the can body members, the rotation of and spacing of the can body members and the rotation of the applicator roller member being controlled to apply the coating during substantially only one revolution of the can body member and less than one revolution of the roller member.

  • Patent number: 4138965
Abstract: Apparatus for delivering metered amounts of varnish to the surface of a metal can, or the like. Varnish is delivered to a metering roll having recesses in its surface and a doctor blade to scrape off excessage. The varnish in the recesses of the metering roll is delivered to a varnishing roll in continuously metered amounts, and it is delivered by the varnishing roll to the surface of a can, or the like. Remaining varnish is removed from the varnishing roll by a second doctor blade so that substantially no varnish is present on the varnishing roll at the points of delivery of metered varnish to such varnishing roll.

  • Patent number: 4134362
Abstract: Apparatus for applying fluid coloring material to the sidewall of a vehicle tire and including a stand adapted for placement on a supporting surface adjacent the vehicle tire. A holder including an applicator is mounted to the stand. The holder is vertically adjustable and the applicator is outwardly movable to apply coloring material to the vehicle tire sidewall. The applicator is normally biased into engagement with the sidewall, but a holding element is operative to hold the applicator away from the sidewall in an inoperative position when desired. The stand includes a base having a foot shelf extending inwardly of the base periphery whereby an operator can steady the stand by applying foot pressure to the inner extremity of the foot shelf.

  • Patent number: 4125087
Abstract: Apparatus for cleaning and painting gas bottles, comprising a rotatable support plate for supporting the bottle, two rotatable brushes which are movable along the rotating bottle and abut thereon for cleaning the bottle, and a painting implement which also abuts on the bottle and is movable along the rotating bottle for painting it after the cleaning operation. The support plate is tippable for compensating for inaccurate centering of the bottle on the support plate relative to the brushes and the painting implement.

  • Patent number: 4115172
Abstract: An uninflated unmounted tire is supported in a frame of the apparatus for engagement with a sealant applicator head that contacts the interior tire liner after a bead spreading device on the frame spreads apart the tire beads, and an elevator member on the frame raises the tire. The applicator head has a tire engaging profile corresponding to that of the tire and an elongated opening for which highly viscous, sticky sealant is discharged onto the tire liner under the tread in a layer of predetermined cross section as the tire is rotated on the frame past the applicator head. A complete coating of sealant is applied during one revolution of the tire, with the sealant having a butt joint, or an overlapping splice formed when the elevator member is lowered a predetermined amount by a drop-off mechanism as the tire completes one revolution of sealant application.

  • Patent number: 4092949
Abstract: Apparatus for causing drawn and ironed cans having rolled-back edges to be detected as faulty and discharged by state-of-the-art can transfer and coating systems. An arcuate shoe is disposed so as to frictionally engage, and cause the rotation of, can-receiving mandrels. A rigid, arcuate arm is disposed adjacent the path of the mandrels, far enough away to allow acceptable cans to slide over the mandrels but close enough to prevent cans having rolled-back edges from doing so. The cans which are prevented from fully seating upon the mandrels are then discharged from the mandrels by air pressure.

  • Patent number: 4089294
Abstract: An apparatus for applying a finish coating of a liquid epoxy containing metallic flakes to the cylindrical exterior surface of tubes such as drawn aluminum tubes. The apparatus includes a carousel which supports six tubes spaced around the periphery thereof with the carousel being rotated about a horizontal axis. A rotable rubber liquid coating applying roll is located below the carousel but offset from directly beneath the rotational axis of the carousel. The liquid epoxy coating is applied to the rubber roll above a metering roll. The carousel is rotated about its horizontal axis to move the tubes into and out of peripheral contact with the liquid coating applying roll, with each tube remaining in contact with the roll through an arc of appoximately 10.degree. of rotation of the carousel. A gear drive rotates each tube while in contact with the liquid coating applying roll in such a manner that the tubes and the liquid coating applying roll move in the same direction and at the same surface speed.
