With Winding Or Unwinding Of Work For Supply Or Removal Patents (Class 118/235)
  • Patent number: 4164911
Abstract: A machine for re-inking printing ribbons for line printers and the like includes a pair of spaced apart spool mechanisms which receive the supply and take-up spools of the ribbon. Disposed between the spool mechanisms is an inking roller which is partially submerged in an ink tank. Adjacent to the tank is a light source and light pipe assembly for detecting holes in the ribbon to be inked. The device accommodates ribbon spools of differing lengths, and is also provided with a ribbon edge sensor which controls the axial position of the ribbon as it is wound onto one of the spools. The spool mechanisms drive the ribbon past the hole detector in one pass, and a pressure roller urges the ribbon onto the inking roller in another pass to re-ink the ribbon.

  • Patent number: 4126715
Abstract: Typing ribbons stored in cartridges are reinked by the use of an apparatus having a plurality of drive devices arranged to pull the ribbon through the reinking mechanism and return the ribbon to the cartridge without placing stress on the cartridge case or rewinding mechanism. The apparatus includes a bracket for securely mounting the cartridge with the ribbon threaded over a self-inking drum. A drive system is provided for rotating the inking drum and pulling the ribbon by a drive capstan to maintain a taut condition. A variable speed motor is included for returning the ribbon to the cartridge through its reloading mechanism. Sensors and an electrical control circuit are provided for automatically stopping the reinking process at its completion or if a defect in the ribbon is detected.

  • Patent number: 4041197
Abstract: A method is disclosed for coating a substrate or web with a plastic material. A liquid plastisol coating is applied to the web and the coated web is then passed between a put-on roll and a heat drum, which heats and cures the plastisol. The put-on roll is pressed against the heat drum to compress the coated web. The plastisol is partially cured to gelation while being compressed by the put-on roll, and the curing of the plastisol is completed during further travel of the web around the heat drum.

  • Patent number: 4011830
Abstract: The subject matter of this specification pertains to improvements intended to be utilized in a ribbon inking machine having a frame, a drum mounted on the frame, a carriage movably mounted on the frame so as to be capable of being used with respect to the drum, a ribbon feed roller mounted on the carriage, a ribbon inking structure mounted on the carriage, and a ribbon takeup roller mounted on the frame. Such a machine is preferably constructed to include a pressing element mounted on guide rods so as to be capable of being moved towards and away from the drum. Solenoids are used to control the tension on bands mounted on the pressing element and passing around the guide rods. When they are tightened they hold the pressing element relative to the guide rods. A mechanical mechanism provided for raising and lowering the pressing element is located on the guide rods.

  • Patent number: 4002142
Abstract: An apparatus for applying a stripe to the surface of a continuous strip of film material. The film is drawn from a roll of film wound on a supply reel and through a striping station where a striping material is applied to a predetermined zone on the upper surface of the film. Next, the film is drawn around a plurality of drying rollers which are positioned to form a generally rectangular, inwardly spiraling drying path. The film with the dried striping zone is collected on a take-up reel which is motor driven in co-operation with a drawing roller. The drawing roller draws the film from the supply roller, through the striping station and around the drying path.

  • Patent number: 3990390
Abstract: Substrate supply and windup rolls are arranged in a housing arranged at each end of a vacuum coating chamber. Gate means provide for optionally sealing of one housing for loading and unloading purposes while simultaneously coating a continuous strip related to the supply and windup rolls of the second housing. Carriage means carry tension rolls at the extreme ends thereof and reciprocate across the coating chamber in operative association with said housings at the extremes of the reciprocating movement whereby to effect the coating and loading or unloading operations.
