Publication number: 20120204808Abstract: An exercise pad for declawed cats utilizes corrugated cardboard or similar materials formed into a pad having a ledge and rims designed to allow a declawed cat to properly scratch, stretch and exercise. The corrugations are stacked vertically and a rectangular block is created. On three sides of the block, a ledge is formed. This creates a tiered appearance and provides the cat with multiple edges or rims upon which to hook its paws. These specially provided rims provide the declawed cat some texture that gives a unique resistant yet satisfying “give” to the paws when used in the normal scratching action. The ledge can be formed on two sides and an overhang created on the other two sides so regardless of whether the top or bottom is face-up, the cat has access to both the rims created by the ledge and the overhang edges.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 10, 2012Publication date: August 16, 2012Inventors: Marianne Shenefelt, Francis T. The beam is supported by the vertical members in a substantially horizontal orientation and at such a height from the supporting surface that an average-sized housecat can lie on its back beneath the beam, grasp the beam with its feet or claws, and pull itself along on its back for the full length of the beam. Embodiments present either the beam or a beam wrapping as a surface on which cats can sharpen their claws. Publication number: 20080149042Abstract: A collapsible and scaleable floor to ceiling post forming an exercise and perch system for domestic cats. Using integral platforms (37,44) that function as steps and perching areas (35). The post may be adjusted to different ceiling heights by adding or removing interchangeable sections (41,44) and provides fine adjustment with a telescopic section that is spring biased (28) to limit forces on the ceiling. The step/platforms are rotationally spaced by 120 degrees for an optimal rise to run ratio resulting in climbing comfort, ascend and descend speed, safety, and contemporary appearance. The post has a cross-section that forces step and loft mounting at 120° intervals using multiples of three cross-sectional facets. The assembly provides for a removable scratching area near the bottom of the post and padded perch area nearest the ceiling.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2006Publication date: June 26, 2008Inventor: Eric Lee Halpern
