Abstract: The invention provides a facial hair shaping tool and comb for personal grooming, including a first guide member and a second guide member that are identical or nearly identical in size and shaped like a comb with a handle, coupled at a centerline separating the first guide member and the second guide member at two end portions. Each guide member is relatively thin compared to its overall size, having an elongated planar body with at least one curvilinear segment, and includes additional members that allows the facial hair shaping tool and comb to convert between a conjoined facial hair shaping tool (opened state) to a miniature comb (closed state), and vice versa.

Abstract: A hairbrush 10 has rounded outer surfaces 23, 25 of hinged heads 22, 24 that, when the brush is closed, achieve a closed form that is generally round or spherical in cross-sectional shape. Another aspect of the present invention includes inner head surfaces 26, 28 that support bristles and that are complementarily shaped concave and convex, respectively, to hold a tuft of hair in a curved position as the tuft is pulled through the closed heads.

Abstract: A comb is described having two sets of opposing tines that are connected together by way a biasing hinge. The comb is utilized in styling hair and, in particular, to lift short hair vertically upwardly.

Abstract: An apparatus for mechanical removal of pests and their eggs from the hair and fur, and a method for use of the apparatus. The apparatus is in the general shape of a comb having closely separated parallel teeth, which can be passed through the hair to glean lice and nits from the hair. The apparatus may comprise two or more individual combs which can be locked together for use, and separated for cleaning. The apparatus may also comprise a tooth-cleaning mechanism, adapted to be used after each pass of the comb. This mechanism may be, for example, a cleaning member which slides along the teeth to remove pests and eggs. When the apparatus is being passed through the hair or fur, the cleaning mechanism may be disposed at the base of the apparatus to prevent pests from crawling into interior spaces of the apparatus and reinfesting the individual upon subsequent passes of the apparatus through the hair or fur.

Abstract: A method is provided for assembling a hair holder. Firstly, two bodies interconnected by a connecting plate are integrally formed, wherein each body includes two lugs with aligned holes and a plurality of bristle elements formed thereon, and wherein each of two ends of the connecting plate is connected to an associated body by a first bendable section. The connecting plate further includes a second bendable section formed on a mediate section thereof. Then, two legs of an elastic member are attached to two protrusions of the connecting plate to temporarily position the elastic member. Next, the bodies are bent along the first bendable sections to align the holes of the lugs with a coil portion of the elastic member. A pivotal pin is then extended through the aligned holes of the lugs and the coil portion of the elastic member. Next, the legs of the elastic member are disengaged from the protrusions.

Abstract: A hair brush useful for temporarily straightening curly or wavy hair is provided having first and second brush heads hinged to one another at their handles. The first and second brush heads are biased away from one another so that the hair brush is normally in an open position. The hair brush is used by grasping the handles and squeezing the heads together to grip a portion of a person's hair. The brush is moved through the hair to hold the hair straight so that it can be blow dried.

Abstract: A hair holder includes a pair of bodies each including a mediate portion pivotally coupled together by a pivot shaft. Each body includes a number of teeth formed on a lower portion thereof. Each body further includes an extension plate extending from the mediate portion thereof, each extension plate including a notch defined in a mediate section thereof, thereby defining two spaced ears. A pin is fixedly mounted between the ears. A spring is provided for biasing the extension plates away from each other and for biasing the teeth toward each other. A cover plate is removably attached to the bodies. The cover plate includes a flexible mediate section having a gap defined in an underside thereof, thereby allowing the cover plate to be bendable along the flexible mediate section.

Abstract: A hair holder includes a pair of members having a middle portion pivotally coupled together and having a number of teeth formed in the lower portion and each having a handle formed in the upper portion. A spring may bias the handles away from each other so as to bias the teeth toward each other. A pair of panels are pivotally coupled together and each has one edge pivotally coupled to the handles so as to allow the panels to rotate relative to the handles. The panels may shield the pivot shaft and the spring so as to prevent the hair from being clamped by the spring.

Abstract: A hair clip including a first comb member having a forward end and a rearward end and a plurality of teeth extending therefrom, a first comb member having a forward end and a rearward end with a plurality of teeth extending therefrom, and a flexible band affixed to the rearward end of the first comb member and affixed to the rearward end of the second comb member. The flexible band has an accordion shape of expandable length. The forward end of the first comb member is detachably connected to a forward end of the second comb member such that the teeth are separated in an unintertwined relationship. The first comb member is movable between a first position engaging the forward end of the second comb member and a first position extending distal the second comb member.

Abstract: A nape and scalp stimulator for use in simultaneously massaging both sides of the nape of the human neck is disclosed. The stimulator includes: an elongated body having a top and a bottom surface as well as a peripheral rim extending between said surfaces, a plurality of narrow teeth integral with the body and depending from its bottom surface. Two rotatable T-shaped handles for retaining the stimulator within the hands of the user are joined to the stimulator body and extend from the top surface thereof. In an alternative embodiment of the stimulator, a hinge is provided within the elongated body thereby permitting adjacent stimulator elements to pivot relative to one another.

Abstract: A headwear apparatus includes a butterfly chip comb assembly and an elongated, moisture absorbent headband. The comb assembly includes a pair of hingedly coupled combs with inwardly facing tines shiftable between open and closed positions and having a retainer for holding the combs in the closed position. The headband presents respective end regions having a plurality of transverse, tine receiving slots defined therein which allow adjustable length coupling of the end regions with the respective combs. In use, with the combs in the open position, the headband is placed about the user's head with a portion of the user's hair gathered between the combs; the combs are then shifted to the closed position which snugs the headband to hold it in place about the user's head and holds the user's hair in the gathered configuration.
