  • Patent number: 7004190
Abstract: A protective collar for protecting the outside drop of a manhole having a U shaped housing extending from the outside wall of the manhole around the outside drop pipes and back to the outside wall. The protective collar having flanges at each end of the U shaped collar for attaching the collar to the outside wall of the manhole. The U shaped collar, having grooves on the inside for attaching rings, which surround the outside drop pipes. The rings having inside diameters, which vary to fit the size of pipe used by the outside drop such that are size collar works with any size outside drop pipe. An elbow attached to the outside of the manhole wall and to the protective collar such that the outside drop pipe connects to the elbow. Thus the outside drop is totally protected from being moved relative to the manhole which may cause leaks.

  • Patent number: 6988510
Abstract: A free floating disc check valve is provided by the present application. The check valve includes a seal disc having an integral truncated torroidal shaped portion. The torroidal shaped portion provides structural rigidity to the seal disc to minimize deflection of the disc under higher differential fluid pressures. The torroidal shaped portion of the disc cooperates with finger-shaped projections inside the valve body to limit lateral displacement of the disc relative to the axial flow of the fluid. The torroidal shaped portion and the flat portion of the disc form a cup shape that creates a hydrodynamic force that assists in moving the disc to an opened or closed position. The seal disc is made of an elastomeric material that is coated with a dry film lubricant.

  • Patent number: 6895991
Abstract: An improved pneumatic valve and a missile with an improved thrust directional valve. In one embodiment, a refractory material lining for a pneumatic valve enables better valve operation and better valve performance. A thin-wall cylindrical sleeve of rhenium or other suitable refractory metal is located inside a cylinder. A valve piston may then travel within the refractory sleeve with greater reliability and better operation. The refractory sleeve cylinder lining can be subject to high temperatures at a rapid rate and remain operational. Under such a hostile environmental, including corrosive/erosive environments created by the passage of hot propellant gasses, the refractory cylinder sleeve has a more reliable operational life and is lighter in weight than conventional valves made entirely of refractory metals.

A sliding hinge locks the lid upright, sliding downward along the upper end of the rear wall. The faucet is returned to the storage position by pulling upward and lowering to the closed position, the slider connector sliding forward along the grooves to the stored position.

  • Patent number: 6672330
Abstract: A valve is characterized by excellent corrosion and wear resistance and maintainability due to use of a bonding corrosion and wear proof alloy containing non-continuously distributed eutectic carbide on the sliding portions of various types of apparatuses and valves by diffusion bonding. This serves to improve the maintainability of a thermal and nuclear power plant and to provide a nuclear power plant using recirculating water, which ensures excellent working safety, in particular. The corrosion and wear proof alloy is characterized in that network-formed eutectic carbide in the alloy containing the cast structure base metal and eutectic carbide is formed into(multiple) granules or lumps having a particle size of 30 microns or less so that said eutectic carbide is non-continuously distributed.

Abstract: Liquid dispensing module and methods for dispensing a heated liquid onto a substrate. The dispensing module includes a dispenser body receiving liquid from a heated liquid distribution manifold and an actuator having a housing with an air piston movable in an air cavity and a solenoid valve for pressurizing the air cavity. Movement of the air piston controls a flow-regulating mechanism for selectively dispensing liquid from the dispenser body. A thermally insulating shield may be provided for reducing heat transfer from the manifold and/or dispenser body to the actuator so that the solenoid valve can be mounted directly to the housing and the effective volume of the air cavity can be reduced. The cycle time of the liquid dispensing module may be specified by selecting an initial volume of the air cavity and an effective valve flow coefficient for the actuator that characterizes the air flow to the air cavity.

Abstract: A leak identification and containment device (10, 48, 64) is provided which is designed for application to a valve assembly (12) including a conduit (16) and a valve (18) having an operating handle (20) and an outlet (22). The device (10, 48, 64) includes a flexible bag (24, 50, 66) formed of synthetic resin material which is at least translucent (and preferably substantially transparent) with a valve-receiving opening (30, 52) and an absorbent lining (34) on the inner surfaces of the bag (24, 50, 66). In use, the bag (24, 50, 66) is disposed over the valve assembly (12) including handle (20) and outlet (22) and a cinch strap (34, 54) is used to tighten the bag (24, 50, 66) about the conduit (16). The absorbent lining (34) is of a color which contrasts with that of material which may leak from the valve assembly (12), so that the device (10, 48, 64) gives a visual indication of leakage.

Abstract: A plastic ball valve has a layer of metal film coated on the ball by electroplating. This prevents the ball from directly contacting the inner surface of a pipe housing socket. Microorganisms are prevented from growing at the junction of the ball and pipe housing. When the pipe housing is sleeved on another pipe by applying an adhesive, any adhesive that adheres on the ball is easily peeled off during valve operation. This ensures a smooth regulation of fluid flow through the pipe housing.
