  • Publication number: 20130000754
Abstract: The intention is to provide an actuator which makes it possible to change the opening time and to manually lock the supply of gas. For this purpose, the actuator consists of a housing (9) which is closed by a cover (10). A working diaphragm (8) is clamped between the housing (9) and the cover (10) and subdivides a space enclosed by the housing (9) and the cover (10) into a working pressure chamber (11) and an outlet pressure chamber (13). A lever (15) which is supported on the working diaphragm (8) and acts on a gas valve (2) via a drive plunger (16) is pivotably mounted in the housing (9). The actuator also has an adjustable pressure control valve (6) and a solenoid valve (7). When an inlet pressure line (12) is closed, the solenoid valve (7) opens a connecting channel (28) between the working pressure chamber (11) and the outlet pressure chamber (13). In contrast, in the open position, the inlet pressure line (12) is connected to the working pressure chamber (11) and to the pressure chamber (21).

Abstract: A buoyancy adjustment device utilizes an inflation valve connected between the diver's breathing gas supply and a compartment to admit gas into the compartment to increase the diver's buoyancy. An exhaust valve connects between the compartment and the outside of the vest, to release gas from the compartment to the surrounding environment to decrease the diver's buoyancy. A hand-operated controller connected to the inflation valve, when caused to move from a neutral position to an inflation position, actuates the inflation valve and admits gas to the compartment. The hand-operated controller is also connected to the exhaust valve via a flexible pushrod so that, when caused to move from the neutral position to an exhaust position, actuates the exhaust valve and releases gas from the compartment. The flexible push rod is housed in a sleeve that is totally contained within the compartment.

The shaft has a protuberance defining a mating surface that is positionable against a valve seat of the regulator and a flow surface that intersects the mating surface. A first angle is defined between the mating surface and a plane that is orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the shaft. A second angle is defined between the flow surface and a plane that is orthogonal to the longitudinal axis. The first angle and the second angle are both oblique with respect to the longitudinal axis of the shaft.

Abstract: A regulator comprised of a housing having an ingress for connection to a source of gas at a first pressure and an egress adapted for supplying gas at a lower pressure than the first pressure. A fixed member, located within the housing, separates the ingress from the egress and has at least one opening extending therethrough. A throttling tube is located in the housing and extends through the opening in the fixed member to control the flow of gas from the ingress to the egress. The throttling tube has a first end juxtaposed with a compressible disk and a second end juxtaposed with a valve seat. An actuation lever responds to a pressure within the housing to move the throttling tube into and out of engagement with the valve seat. The throttling tube responds to a force provided by the disk when it is out of engagement with valve seat.

Abstract: Disclosed is a cylindrical, single-component two-stage regulator for controlling a pressure and a flow rate of a gas. The regulator includes a housing for holding the two stages having an ingress adapted for connection to a source of gas at a high input pressure and an egress adapted for supplying gas at a lower output pressure than the high input pressure; a first stage for reducing the pressure of the gas from the high input pressure to a fixed intermediate pressure; and a second stage for reducing the pressure of the gas from the fixed intermediate pressure to the lower output pressure and regulating the flow rate of the gas out of the egress. One application of the present invention is for use in SCUBA (Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) applications, where it replaces the traditional two-component user-adjustable regulator. The regulator may be made out of stainless steel, and is small enough to fit into a user's mouthpiece.
