Patent number: 7334594Abstract: A shunt valve assembly includes an electromechanical brake mechanism that locks a position of a pressure setting mechanism within a shunt valve assembly. The electromechanical brake can maintain the position of the pressure setting mechanism in the presence of a relatively strong magnetic field to maintain a set pressure differential within the shunt valve assembly. In certain cases, the shunt valve requires repositioning of the pressure setting mechanism within the shunt valve assembly to adjust a fluid flow rate through the shunt valve assembly. A clinician can activate an external controller to transmit a signal to the shunt valve assembly through magnetically coupled antennas between the controller and the shunt valve. The shunt valve assembly utilizes the signal to activate the braking mechanism and unlock the pressure setting mechanism. The clinician then operates the controller to non-invasively reposition the pressure setting mechanism and adjust the pressure at which the shunt valve opens.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2005Date of Patent: February 26, 2008Assignee: Codman & Shurtleff, Inc.Inventor: Lev Ludin

Patent number: 6302063Abstract: A heat trap assembly includes a housing adapted for interconnection between a hot water tank and a water line with the housing including an interior flow chamber. A one-way valve is disposed within the chamber for enabling unrestricted water flow only in one direction through the chamber. The valve includes a valve seat fixed within a chamber along one direction and movable in an opposite direction along with a movable sealing member. A spring is provided for urging the sealing member against the valve seat to prevent flow though the chamber in the opposite direction. Water flow in the one direction compresses the spring and dislodges the sealing member from the valve seat. A pressure relief disk is provided and disposed between the valve seat and the end of the chamber. The pressure relief disk compresses under a selected water pressure exerted in the opposite direction for enabling flow in the opposite direction at pressures greater than a selected water pressure within a hot water tank.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2001Date of Patent: October 16, 2001Inventor: Werner Schimmeyer

Patent number: 6244295Abstract: The invention relates to a check valve with a tubular valve housing in which a valve ball is received. To make a large flow cross section available and to prevent closure by the valve ball when the check valve is fully open, a perforated disk is press-fitted between longitudinally extending guide ribs of the valve housing and a circumferential wall of the valve housing there is an interstice as an outflow opening, which is not closed even the valve ball contacts the perforated disk. The valve housing is made by stamping, in which the guide ribs and a valve seat are made in one operation and are thereby aligned exactly with one another. In this way, a small radial play of the valve ball can be realized.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1999Date of Patent: June 12, 2001Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Walter Bartussek, Joerg Heusinkveld, Hubert Hueber, Werner Rittler, Juergen Haecker, Harald Ott, Harald Aicher
