Rotary Valve Patents (Class 137/625.41)
  • Patent number: 6361051
Abstract: A cylindrically curved rectangular face seal is provided for a cross-ported barrel type rotary valve member. The seal has a central flow orifice therethrough with an annular raised rib formed about the orifice and extending in a radial direction from the concave inner face of the seal. The opposite edges of the seal extending in an axial direction each have a notch or rib thereon for axial sliding engagement in grooves provided in the valve body. The annular rib about the orifice accommodates dimensional variation in the valve parts to ensure a rotary sliding seal on the rotary valve member.

  • Patent number: 6354328
Abstract: Sludge collection and removal systems are disclosed. The present invention provides methods and apparatus that include piping system of headers and laterals selectively provided with flow from a central point so that sludge can be removed from areas where it accumulates most rapidly. The adaptable nature of the piping system additionally permits the number of collection laterals and orifices to be varied to suit the sludge accumulation characteristics of the sludge basin. Additionally, improved multiple port valves are disclosed that permit the selective connection of the flow among sections in preferred embodiments of the sludge collection systems.

  • Patent number: 6325089
Abstract: This valve uses a rotatable balancing chamber to control the waterflow into the balancing chamber. A pair of exit ports on the rotatable balancing chamber are in communication with the balancing chambers on either side of a diaphragm equipped shuttle to control the outlet mixture of hot and cold water. The diaphragm equipped shuttle responds to changes in pressure in the respective balance chambers to throttle the water through the valve in response to changes in inlet pressures. The pressure balancing chambers are isolated from the water supplies feeding the valve when the valve is in the “off” position, and the pressure balancing chambers are pre-pressurized before any water is permitted to exit from the valve.

  • Patent number: 6321773
Abstract: An overall valving system is situated generally between a source of water and a habitable structure; a main valve is selectively openable and closable to permit and terminate flow from such source of water to the habitable structure; a conduit is provided for supplying pressurized air to an area downstream of the main valve when the main valve is closed.

  • Patent number: 6293299
Abstract: A limiting device for use with a single-handle valve for mixing hot and cold water and for controlling the maximum flow-volume or the maximum temperature of flow through the valve. The device limits the range of motion of the control stem of a single-handle mixing valve. The device comprises a guide template and an insert. The guide template generally defines the range of motion of the control stem, the control stem being positioned within a camming aperture of the guide template, the camming aperture having the same general shape as the range of motion of the control stem. The guide template includes a guide-cover key that prevents any rotary movement of the guide template relative to the single-handle mixing valve, and a guide-insert key. The insert further limits the range of motion of the control stem during engagement with the guide template. The insert includes an insert-limiting edge that further reduces the size of the camming aperture during engagement of the insert with the guide template.

  • Patent number: 6234188
Abstract: An adapter for connection to an opening in a fluid containing vessel for applying a vacuum to the interior of the vessel is provided. The adapter includes at least partially concentrically disposed outer and inner sleeves, each having a generally conical shape and a generally radially extending opening in a side wall thereof. The inner and outer sleeves are rotatable relative to each other such that the extent to which the openings in the side walls of the inner sleeve and outer sleeve are aligned can be selectively adjusted. The inner and outer sleeves define a passage through the adapter extending from a proximal opening at a proximal end to a distal opening at a distal end of the adapter. The proximal end of the adapter is configured for connection to a vacuum source and the distal end is configured for insertion in and to sealingly engage the edge of the opening in the vessel.

  • Patent number: 6227246
Abstract: An electronically-controlled faucet has a hot-cold water mixing valve disposed in a cup-shaped housing with an open end of the housing accessible from the top side of a deck to which the housing is mounted. Water supply and discharge lines are connectable to the housing. A spacer between the closed end of the housing and the mixing valve supports check valves that prevent cross flow and reverse flow. The spacer also supports a filter screen located downstream of the mixing valve. The filter screen has a wetted area greater than the cross sectional area of the water supply lines and ports. A removable cap covers the housing. All of the mixing valve, check valve and filter components are accessible from above the deck without disconnecting any of the water lines.

  • Patent number: 6192935
Abstract: A dispensing valve mounting assembly includes a housing having a beverage syrup inlet communicating with a beverage syrup outlet and a first mixing fluid inlet and a second mixing fluid inlet communicating with a mixing fluid outlet. The dispensing valve mounting assembly further includes a beverage syrup valve assembly disposed in the housing. The beverage syrup valve assembly is movable from a first position that interrupts communication between the beverage syrup inlet and the beverage syrup outlet to a second position that permits communication between the beverage syrup inlet and the beverage syrup outlet. The dispensing valve mounting assembly still further includes an inlet switch assembly disposed in the housing.
