Patent number: 5558134Abstract: A binding wire guide mechanism in a binding machine has a bend guide member which is provided at the outlet of a straight guide member. The bend guide member has a wire receiving surface which receives a wire fed through the straight guide member in such a manner that the wire abuts obliquely against the surface. The angle of abutment of the wire with respect to the wire receiving surface is made adjustable. As the front end portion of the wire is bent while abutting against the wire receiving surface, the remaining portion of the wire is also bent; that is, the wire is continuously bent, thus forming a wire loop. The bend guide member is short, providing a free space at the front. Therefore, the wire can be positively wound around the articles with ease, which contributes to an improvement of the operating performance of the binding machine.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1994Date of Patent: September 24, 1996Assignee: Max Co., Ltd.Inventor: Atsushi Miyazaki

Patent number: 4392518Abstract: A fence wire winder for twisting together two strands of wire includes a single-piece handle member with a clearance aperture disposed in one end and a generally cylindrical spindle member extending through this clearance aperture. Secured to this spindle member is a knurled ratchet wheel and secured to the handle member is an engaging, spring-loaded pawl. The action of the pawl relative to the knurled ratchet wheel permits the handle member to be locked to the spindle member so that the two members turn together in a first direction of rotation while in the reverse direction of rotation, the handle member freely moves relative to the spindle member which remains stationary. The spindle member is retained in position by the knurled ratchet wheel on one side and a washer and retaining thimble arrangement on the opposite side. Disposed within the spindle member and extending therethrough is a longitudinal clearance channel for receipt of a first strand of wire.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1981Date of Patent: July 12, 1983Inventor: Ivan H. Patent number: 4362192Abstract: In a power tool for binding concrete-reinforcing bars together with a wire tie, a predetermined length of wire is fed into a pair of jaws having loop-forming grooves therein. A rotatable inner mandrel carries a cutter bar while an outer mandrel is rotatably mounted on the inner mandrel. Radial flanges on the outer mandrel form openings with the cutter bar for the passage of the wire as it is formed into a loop by the jaws. Relative rotation of the inner mandrel relative to the outer mandrel cuts the wire and then twists the cut ends into a wire tie that binds the reinforcing bar. Controls are provided for properly positioning the openings for the passage of the wire upon each successive cycle of operation.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1981Date of Patent: December 7, 1982Inventors: Donn B.
