  • Publication number: 20090223590
Abstract: A system and method for producing a barbed taped product is controlled by an electronic controller to provide a predetermined pattern of attachment points. The system automatically clips adjacent loops of product strands together in the predetermined pattern. The system is capable of varying the pattern from roll to roll, within a given roll, and between rolls. The system and method eliminates the need for ceasing production between rolls in order to re-thread.

  • Patent number: 6926262
Abstract: A barrier structure includes a continuous piece of elongated metal tape. The metal tape includes barbs spaced along an elongate body. Each of the barbs is connected securely to a barb root, and each barb root is connected securely to the elongate body. A first region of the elongate body is adjacent to each barb root, and a second region of the elongate body is adjacent to each first region distal from the barb root. A third region of the elongate body adjacent to each second region distal from the first region extends lengthwise from each second region and meets a corresponding third region that is extending lengthwise away from another second region. Each second region extends transversely and inwardly from the adjacent first region and the adjacent third region.

  • Patent number: 6363653
Abstract: A device for preventing rats from climbing, characterized in that the device made of deformable plate (1), such as metal plate, comprises a plurality of adjacently arranged deformable plates (3) and a fixing part (2) for fixing the plurality of deformable plates to a pipe/rod (10) or other desired body which climbing rats is to be prevented. Each of the deformable plates has sharp teeth and/or protrusions at its edges and has an end connected to the fixing part. It is possible for the user to deform and extend the deformable plates in various directions by using tools, so as to form sharp construction around the contour of the pipe/rod (10), thereby preventing rats from climbing. Moreover, the fixing part is provided with a punched structure, through which fixing members such as screw, rope and steel sheet can penetrate for fixing the device or for connecting the device to other device.

  • Publication number: 20010032680
Abstract: There is provided an apparatus for bundling a plurality of wires placed on a receiving plate. The apparatus is provided with a bundling pawl mechanism that includes a plate and a pair of pawl members. The pawl members are respectively supported at pivot points provided on the plate in spaced-apart relation and interconnected with driving units for opening and closing movement. The pawl members also respectively extend beyond an edge portion of the plate. A wire bundling region is formed between inner surfaces of the pawl members and the edge portion of the plate when at least one of the pawl members rotates toward the other of the pawl members in a closing direction. The bundling pawl mechanism further includes a wire catch prevention member that projects into the wire bundling region from an angled inner corner formed between the inner surface of the at least one pawl member and the edge portion of the plate when the at least one pawl member rotates in the closing position.

  • Patent number: 4920775
Abstract: An apparatus and process is provided for forming a helical barbed tape. The process first involves supplying rolled steel which is passed to an apparatus for blanking barbs and cutting the steel into strips. The strips are mounted on individual cassettes. The tape subsequently is fed from a cassette to a barb sensor and barb setter. The barb setter moves with the tape to effect the required offset in response to the sensed presence of a barb cluster. The tape then advances to a roll former which exerts a controlled differential pressure on opposed sides of the tape to create a uniform circular coil. The tape will have an unequal thickness across its width with the differential thickness being substantially uniform along the length of the tape.

  • Patent number: 4903384
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing barbed strap coils without a core by means of a ring coiling device (50) that has no winder provides a single clamping device (96), whereby the coiling is interrupted for the placement of a clamp. A guide device (11B) is arranged in front of the clamping device (6) by means of which two strap sections separated by the one loop can be pushed toward the clamping device (96) by means of a strap feeding device (38). The two coils are guided outside the interruption in the coiling synchronously and in like phase through the location where the clamps are applied, by a synchronization device (60) in the clamping device (96) which engages slip-free in the two strap sections by means of a member (62). A counter (80) that counts the member movements between two successive clamping steps is coupled with member (162).

  • Patent number: 4718641
Abstract: A helical barbed tape is provided with reinforced barbs. The tape includes a plurality of barb clusters at spaced locations along a central supporting portion. Each barb cluster includes a pair of oppositely directed barbs with the respective pairs being disposed on opposite sides of the central supporting portion. The reinforcement is defined by a portion of the respective barbs which extends out of the initial plane of the barbs. In one embodiment, the reinforcement defines an elongated reinforcing flange. In other embodiments, the reinforcement defines an embossment extending out of the plane of the barbs.

  • Patent number: 4328955
Abstract: A defensive personnel barrier and method for fabrication thereof includes an elongated metal strip having a longitudinally extending bend therein to form a spine extending therealong with laterally opposed flanges extending obliquely from the spine. Each flange is stamped or die cut to provide a plurality of cuts spaced therealong and extending diagonally from the spine to the outer edge of the flange. The diagonally cut portions are bent upwardly from the plane of the flange to form a plurality of barbs spaced longitudinally in the metal strip. The barbs of the opposed flanges are staggered longitudinally, and the edges of the barbs are sufficiently sharp to discourage manual grasping of the strip. One or more strips may be secured atop a fence or similar barrier to discourage climbing thereon. The barrier strips may also be secured to existing linear barbed wire strands by means of a saddle block and J bracket assembly provided by the invention.

  • Patent number: 4045985
Abstract: Apparatus for making barbed material by tractive magnetic means. A work piece of ferrous or other magnetic material is prepared with slits intersecting its edges. The work piece is passed through a guide channel in the apparatus. Along the divergent sides of the channel are contact pieces magnetized by electromagnets. The contact pieces attract the edges of the strip and deform pointed portions out from the strip. The apparatus includes mechanism for moving the strip in a predetermined manner. This abstract is prepared to facilitate searching and it is not to be construed as a limitation of the invention.

  • Patent number: 3941164
Abstract: A process for making barbed material without scrap loss. The first step in manufacture is slitting the edge of the material to form points. The points are then bent to an exposed position by tractive magnetic means. As an additional step the pointed portions can be further displaced away from the edge by elongating or twisting the material.
