Abstract: An apparatus cuts rail ends for cabinet doors. Infeed and outfeed carriages are reciprocally movable along spaced apart tracks, and a transverse carriage is reciprocally moveable between the tracks. An arbor between the tracks supports and rotates a cutter. Clamps on the carriages selectively clamp a workpiece, so a workpiece clamped to the infeed carriage is carried past the arbor to cut an end of the workpiece, transferred to the transverse carriage, carried a desired distance towards the outfeed carriage, clamped to the outfeed carriage, carried past the arbor again to cut a second end of the workpiece, and released.

Abstract: A log processing machine and associate method employs one or more log guides to make joinery cuts in a processed log which has at opposed edges of the processed log the raw log's natural external contour. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, each log guide includes a straight edge and is attached to the processed log to create an artificial straight edge for guiding the processed log through the joinery machine. Prior to attachment, centerlines are marked on the log guide and the processed log, and the centerlines are aligned when the log guide is attached to the processed log. The processed log, with the log guide attached, is then moved through the machine with the aid of computer control while the straight edge of the log guide follows a fence. In this manner, the position of the processed log and its centerline are always known so that the computer can make the programmed joinery cuts with high precision.

The log comprises a sheath which surrounds the compressed forestry wastes of the log. A log according to the invention is produced by that forestry wastes is compressed. The goods are fed to a delimited space which corresponds to the outer shape of the log. In this space the goods are rotated around the lengthwise axis of the log to be during compression after which a holding, moisture releasing sheath is applied during rotation. In the compriming engine the log is formed inside the space which is defined by the compression rolls and the side walls including their movable side wall parts.

Abstract: A method of drying veneer sheets by continuously shingling discrete wood veneer-sheets to form a layup where the leading edges of adjacent sheets are offset by a distance X with the lower, veneer sheet leading in the direction of movement the one there above and continuously feeding the so formed layup in the direction of movement into a drier where the veneer sheets while still in the layup are dried. The dried veneer sheets are then separated into discreet dried veneer sheets and are thereafter individually tested.

Abstract: A veneer dehydrating apparatus which has a pair of rotatable dehydrating roll assemblies disposed one above the other and having their axes extending parallel to each other, at least one of which is positively driven. The paired roll assemblies includes a first roll assembly having formed on the peripheral surface thereof a number of tooth-like projections extending radially outward from the peripheral surface and a second roll assembly having a steel core shaft which is clad with covering of elastic material such as urethane rubber with a predetermined thickness. The axes of the roll assemblies are spaced radially to form a clearance or a nip between the peripheral surfaces thereof which is smaller than the thickness of the veneer sheet to be dehydrated.

Abstract: A coping machine for making miter cuts on baseboard or crown molding stock includes a work platform supported on vertically movable spring assemblies. Stock to be cut is positioned on the work platform. A rotating cutting knife is disposed adjacent a rear edge of the work platform. Operation of a single lever mechanism functions to move the platform in a downward vertical direction so that the stock may be cut by the rotating cutting knife. The spring assemblies automatically return the platform to its original position when the single lever is released.
