Abstract: A safety razor for personal grooming is disclosed. The safety razor includes a handle, a cap, and a base plate that has blade-engaging surfaces that define the razor blade angle when clamped between the cap and the base plate. The base plate can be double-sided to provide a second angled blade-engaging surface that defines a second razor blade angle when the razor blade is clamped between the second side of the base plate and the cap. The modular base plate allows a shaver to replace or flip, in the case of double-sided base plates, the base plate in order to change the blade angle and the aggressiveness of the shave from the safety razor.

Abstract: A longitudinal gage fixture extends the entire length of the cutting blade and provides positively locked, parallel surfaces that uniformly and reliably set the proper height of the gage blade along its length while in a blade holder, In use, the device requires no frictional movement of the gage along the length of the blade, and adjustment of the blade may be achieved in an accurate, single-step process. The entire blade and holder assembly is positioned within the gage fixture and adjusting screwy at the base of the holder are accessed through apertures in a base plate of the gage fixture so that all necessary adjustments of the blade may be made with the holder insitu without any movement of the holder. Abstract: The invention provides an improved planar which effectively prevents undesirable torn grain. The planer of the invention includes at least one planer knife or blade and at least one pressing member, both attached to and supported on a cutterhead. The pressing member includes a head element which is located to have a predetermined angle with respect to the blade and is resiliently movable in a predetermined direction to press an edge of the head element against a certain position of a wood surface immediately before a cutting edge of the blade moving in a fixed direction for cutting or against a boundary between the wood surface and a chip being currently cut from the wood surface. The direct pressing of the pressing member against the wood surface prevents rise of wood fibers and thereby effectively reduces or eliminates undesirable torn or chipped grain.

Abstract: A cutterhead for a power planer has an elongated core with threaded holes for releasably mounting a pressure plate with a cutting blade being clamped between the pressure plate and the core. The core has a support surface contacted by the cover portion, a contact surface contacted by the pressure plate, and a transition surface therebetween. The support surface is inclined to the contact surface at a angle of more than 180 degrees and less than 270 degrees.
