Abstract: A method for creating a vacuum setup for processing a semi-finished fiber composite into a cured fiber composite component is provided. The semi-finished fiber composite is positioned on a molding surface of a tool so that a non-planar surface of the semi-finished fiber composite faces away from the molding surface, covering the non-planar surface of the semi-finished fiber composite by applying an air-tight film and sealing the film with respect to the molding surface of the tool. Application of the film is performed using a plunger formed from a flexible material and having a plunger surface on which the film is retained.

Abstract: A quick change knife blade assembly, for use in conjunction with a tape roll dispensing cartridge assembly of a case sealing machine, comprises a knife blade mounted upon a knife blade mounting plate. A pin plate is fixedly connected to mounting pins passing through the knife blade, and springs are interposed between the pin plate and the mounting plate so as to normally bias the pin plate to a position at which the mounting pins prevent the removal of the knife blade from the mounting plate. When the pin plate is depressed against the biasing forces of the springs, the mounting pins are moved so as to permit the knife blade to be removed from the mounting plate.
Abstract: An apparatus for positioning a tape preform as a layer onto a substrate during the manufacture of a layered resistive device is provided. The apparatus includes at least one positioning member, wherein the positioning member defines a proximal end portion and a distal end portion. Abstract: A knife blade guard locking mechanism, for use in conjunction with the sealing tape application rollers of a tape cartridge assembly of a case sealing machine, is adapted to be operatively connected to a spring biasing mechanism of the sealing tape application rollers such that when the sealing tape application rollers are disposed at their inoperative positions, the knife blade guard locking mechanism is disposed at its locked position so as to effectively cover the knife blade in order to protect personnel from being accidentally cut. Conversely, when the sealing tape application rollers are disposed at their operative positions, the knife blade guard locking mechanism is automatically unlocked so as to permit the knife blade to be uncovered in order to perform its sealing tape cutting operation.

Abstract: On a back face of a semiconductor wafer, an annular convex portion is formed at an outer periphery so as to surround a flat concave portion formed by back grinding. The back face of the semiconductor wafer is pressed against an adhesive surface of a supporting adhesive tape joined to a ring frame. Thus, the annular convex portion is joined to the adhesive tape. Further, the adhesive tape is deformed while being pressed from a side of its non-adhesive surface. Abstract: The film sticking apparatus includes: a gripping member; a pressing member pressing the adhesive face of the film being held in a planar state against one end face of a cylindrical honeycomb structure having a plurality of cells, and thus sticking the film to the one end face; and a folding member having an opening portion formed that allows an end of the honeycomb structure on the side to which the film is stuck to be inserted, wherein the folding member folds a protruding portion of the film protruding from the one end face of the honeycomb structure by inserting the honeycomb structure into the opening portion, toward a side face of the honeycomb structure, and simultaneously presses at least a part of the folded protruding portion against a part of the side face of the honeycomb structure to stick the film to the side face.
Abstract: According to the invention, one or more thermoplastic sheets (NdT: “feuilles thermoplastique” in the original) (2) are applied on a flat or curved tool (13), and strips (NdT: “des bande” in the original) of a polymer are applied and pressed onto the sheets (2). Abstract: A 360° tool for making a one-piece composite tubular structure, such as a skin of an acoustic liner, is adjustable between a molding position and a non-molding position. The tool includes a base, a fixed segment mounted to the base, first and second doors hingedly connected on either side of the fixed sector, and third door hingedly connected to the second door. The third door has a circumferential extent that is less than one-fourth that of either the first or second door. Sealing members are provided between the doors. Collectively, the fixed sector, and the first, second and third doors have a predetermined shaped surface that corresponds to a portion of the contour of the tubular structure to be formed. After composite material is applied on the outer surfaces of the fixed sector and the doors, a vacuum bag is formed to surround the composite material and also the joint areas on the inner surface of the tool. The entire tool may be placed in an autoclave for curing.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for producing foil bags comprising V-shaped inserted lateral folds and a reclosing mechanism with a slide in a top filling hole. The inventive method encompasses the following steps: window-shaped blanks (10) which delimit the top end of the subsequently formed lateral folds as well as slide blanks (11) are introduced into a planar sheeting. Abstract: A dunnage platform is in the general shape of a rectangular slab with legs extending form one side. The dunnage platform is made from an expanded polystyrene core. A chemical combination process is used to chemically combine portion of the core proximal to its surface with high impact polystyrene. In a first of two parts of the combination process, the core is placed in a forming mold with one of its two sides and two thirds of its thickness extending therefrom. A heated sheet of high impact polystyrene is brought into contact with the portion of the core extending from the mold. Abstract: The object of the invention is a high-pressure rubber hose comprising a liner (1), rubberized textile layers (2), main reinforcing plies (3) and a cover (5). The invention is essentially characterised by that the hose has an integrated coupling (7) and a permanent two- or three-dimensionally curved shape, which shape it retains in the absence of external force. The method according to the invention comprises the steps of building the high-pressure hose from its structural elements on a mandrel, providing an integrated coupling (7) to the hose, securing the coupling to the hose, removing the built-up hose structure from the mandrel, producing the desired final shape of the hose before vulcanization, and retaining the final shape by keeping the hose fixed during vulcanization. The apparatus according to the invention is essentially characterised by that it comprises blinds (12) matching the hose couplings (7), the blinds being disposed with fixed orientation and position.
Abstract: A device for the dimensionally accurate application of an elastoplastic spacer strip onto a glass pane is disclosed. The device includes a compensating or tailback section between a first adjustably driven pair of rollers and a second adjustably driven pair of rollers, as well as a sensor for recognizing the position of the strip in the compensating section. The device is designed such that the spacer strip is not withdrawn from the storage drum but, instead, is unwound in a manner free from any tensile stress. The spacer strip, furthermore, is kept free from tensile and shearing stresses on the route up to being pressed onto a glass pane, despite the fact that the application speed will inevitably fluctuate several times between zero and a maximum value while edges of the glass pane are covered mechanically.
Abstract: A forming tool and method for its use with flat pre-preg composite laminate assemblies which incorporates a mandrel segmented into multiple forming blocks, the forming blocks sized to receive a draped composite laminate assembly with all portions of the composite laminate assembly spaced from a shaping surface on each block. A spline plate engages the shaping surface of the forming blocks to provide a neutral axis for maintaining the entire composite laminate assembly in tension during forming. In the exemplary embodiments, the draped composite laminate assembly is formed to the forming blocks from the flat composite laminate assembly and maintained in contact with the forming blocks using a vacuum bag. The mandrel forming blocks are then displaced to a desired curvature on the spline plate.

Abstract: The invention relates to an assembly for positioning sleeves on products such as bottles. According to the invention, the products are conveyed in the upright position one after the other along a conveyor line and the sleeves are removed from a sleeve-feed system by transfer members above the product. The inventive assembly comprises a single sleeve-feed system and two pairs of alternately-operating transfer members which are installed on either side of the product conveyor line. Each transfer member is supported by a transport means such as to travel the length of an active path along the side of the product at the sleeve-application position in order to remove a sleeve and place same on the product, in an alternating manner with the other transfer member from the pair, while the means for transporting the other transfer member from the second pair moves the latter member along a return path at a distance from the active path.

Abstract: A method for positioning side panels during manufacture of a pant includes positioning the side panels on side panel transfer devices. The side panels move perpendicular to a pant transport plane as the pant is transported in the machine direction and the side panels reside on the side panel transfer devices. The side panels can include refastenable fastening components.
