  • Patent number: 6289984
Abstract: A temperature-control apparatus for a printing machine includes a closed, temperature-control fluid circuit including a pump with a suction and pressure side, a fluid feed line feeding temperature-control fluid from a fluid source to the suction side of the pump and a fluid return line on the suction side of the pump between the pump and the load. Temperature-control fluid from the source may be pumped by the pump through the circuit to the load and recycled to the suction side of the pump. A valve is provided in the return line to the source and is controlled by a temperature sensor that senses the temperature in the circuit and selectively directs fluid to the circuit or out of the circuit and back to the source dependent upon the sensed temperature.

  • Patent number: 6206088
Abstract: A heat exchanger system includes a first heat exchanger followed by a second heat exchanger disposed in a dense fluidized bed, the second heat exchanger being made up of a plurality of nests of tubes disposed along the path of the particles in suspension in the dense fluidized bed. The second heat exchanger is provided with at least two feeds situated on either side of its center, each of the feeds receives a distinct mixture of the input fluid and of the output fluid of the first heat exchanger, so that the temperature of the fluid fed into each of the nests is an increasing function of the distance between it and the inlet via which the particles are fed into the dense fluidized bed.

  • Patent number: 5960872
Abstract: In order to control the temperature of the transmission oil of a motor vehicle driven by a liquid-cooled engine, a coolant/transmission oil heat exchanger is provided. The coolant stream supplied to the heat exchanger is miscible in a thermostatic valve from recooled and non-recooled coolant in order to achieve a desired temperature. Preferably the thermostatic valve is controlled by the temperature of the transmission oil, but it is also possible to have two expanding material elements as control pistons of the thermostatic valve, with one control piston being provided in the oil chamber of the thermostatic valve and the other control piston being provided in the coolant mixing chamber of the thermostatic valve. It is also possible, for purposes of precontrol, to electrically heat at least one of the control pistons.

  • Patent number: 5584437
Abstract: An air conditioner comprises a heat exchanger for conducting refrigerant in heat exchanging relationship with an air flow, and a blower for drawing air through the heat exchanger. An adjustable flow distributing plate is disposed between the heat exchanger and blower and is movable by a motor to various positions for controlling the relative air flows through respective portions of the heat exchanger. Temperature sensors are connected to the heat exchanger for detecting the refrigerant temperature at various regions of the heat exchanger. The adjustable plate is positioned in a desired position in response to the detected refrigerant temperatures for equalizing the refrigerant temperatures in the regions of the heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 5582237
Abstract: An apparatus for preventing thermal deformation of a machine tool has a feed unit which heats a heat transfer fluid and pumps it out to a heat exchanging portion. The heat exchanging portion has at least one heat exchanging unit capable of being expanded and shrunk in accordance with the heat transfer fluid therein. The heat exchanging unit is arranged in a prescribed portion of a machine tool. The portion of the machine tool is heated by the heat exchanging unit arranged therein, whereby thermal distribution of the machine tool is equalized and heat deformation thereof is suppressed. The heat transfer fluid passed through the heat exchanging unit is recovered by a discharging portion and fed back to the feed unit. The heat exchanging unit is maintained in an expanded state by controlling the flow rate of the fluid passing therethrough by a flow control valve, so that heat exchanging operation can be carried out effectively.

  • Patent number: 5577552
Abstract: A temperature controlling device suitably usable in a semiconductor microcircuit manufacturing exposure apparatus exposes a semiconductor wafer to a mask to print a pattern of the mask on the wafer. The device includes a constant-temperature liquid medium supplying system for controlling temperature of a liquid at high precision, a distributing system for distributing the supplied liquid medium into plural flow passages, to supply the liquid medium to plural subjects of control such as, for example, a mask stage, a wafer stage and the like. The device further includes a plurality of temperature controls each being provided in corresponding one of the flow passages, for correction of any variance in temperature of the distributed liquid medium, resulting from pressure loss energies in the respective flow passages. Thus, temperatures of plural subjects of control can be controlled efficiently and with a simple structure.
