Tandem Gangs Patents (Class 172/455)
  • Patent number: 10051773
Abstract: An agricultural tillage implement including a carriage frame assembly and pull hitch towed by a tractor and forward and aft secondary frames supported by the carriage frame assembly. The forward and aft secondary frames mount gangs of disk blades for tilling the soil. The secondary frames establish a plane and the aft secondary frame is connected to the carriage frame assembly at a greater distance from the plane than the forward secondary frame so that the depth of penetration of the disk blades is uniform during field operation. The tillage implement has outboard wing sections pivotally connected to the secondary frames and annular shims are provided to establish the wing sections and secondary frames in common plane during field operation, the annular shim being rotatable about central axis to present a common surface to the implements irrespective of the orientation of the shims.

  • Patent number: 9609797
Abstract: An agricultural implement may include a main frame with a tool frame pivotally coupled thereto. The agricultural implement includes a front row of ground engaging tools having a first plurality of ground engaging tools coupled to the tool frame and a rear row of ground engaging tools having a second plurality of ground engaging tools coupled to the tool frame. The agricultural implement includes a front linkage assembly extending between the main frame and the tool frame. The front linkage assembly is coupled to the tool frame vertically above the front row. The agricultural implement also includes a central linkage assembly extending between the main frame and the tool frame. The central linkage assembly is coupled to a central portion of the tool frame between the front row and the rear row. The front row is configured to pivot upwardly and downwardly relative to the rear row.

  • Patent number: 7857073
Abstract: An agricultural implement includes first and second outer harrows positioned adjacent front and left sides and front and right sides of a frame, respectively, at generally opposite diagonal directions. Third and fourth harrows are similarly positioned adjacent rear and left sides and rear and right sides of the frame, respectively, at generally opposite diagonal directions. The implement may include inner harrows positioned to close gaps left by the outer harrows and positioned at generally opposite diagonal configurations. Each harrow includes a plurality of discs and a chain with a plurality of links. Each outer harrow chain is held in relative tension by a spring interconnecting a respective chain end and the frame. Left and right sides of the frame are foldable upwardly and inwardly for transport and storage.

  • Patent number: 6374921
Abstract: A frame for a tillage implement includes a pair of opposing frame sections pivotally connected to a central kingpost for a folding movement between a transversely extending working position and a longitudinally extending transport position. The frame sections have mounted thereto a number of tool sub-frames carrying ground engaging working tools. The tool sub-frames are pivotally movable relative to a rockshaft carried by the frame sections so as to be rotatable between a lowered operative position and a generally vertical raised non-working position. Depth control for the ground engaging tools is accomplished through the rotation of the rockshaft about its pivot lug. The frame sections are connected at the inner end to the kingpost so that the main frame members abut when placed in the working position. Each frame member is supported by a pair of wheel assemblies at the inner and distal ends respectively.

  • Patent number: 6321850
Abstract: A forwardly folding tillage implement carries a number of ground engaging tools on a tool gang frame disposed to the rear of a carrier frame. A rockshaft is disposed between the carrier frame and the tool gang frame and is movable between four rotated positions about two axes of rotation. A control mechanism controls the relative angular position of the rockshaft. A support mechanism is disposed rearwardly of the axes of rotation to support the rear of the tool gang frame above the ground in the field working position. An abutment member restrains the relative rotation between the rockshaft and the tool gang frame to fully support the tool gang frame on the rockshaft upon rotation of the rockshaft.

  • Patent number: 5996704
Abstract: A towed, three row cultivator including a frame, a hitch bar, primary and secondary implement bars and vertical columns slidable within bearing housings attached at each side of the frame. The columns are attached to each other at the upper end by a bridge member and terminate in wheel assembles at the lower end. Actuators are provided for lifting and lowering the frame relative to the columns. Fertilizer and chemical tanks may also be provided for attachment to the bridge member, thereby placing the weight of such tanks and their contents directly on the wheels independent of the frame.

  • Patent number: 5881820
Abstract: An improved disc-type ground tillage implement for tilling ground. The implement has a frame connectable to a towing machine and having multiple pairs of gangs of blades connected to the frame. The frame is supported by a plurality of wheels which may be used to raise and lower the implement in relation to the ground. Each of the pairs of blade gangs includes a front and a rear gang, there being a pair of outer right blade gangs, at least one pair of center blade gangs and a pair of outer left blade gangs. The front and the rear gangs of the outer right and the outer left gang pairs converge as they extend out away from the left-right center of the frame and the outer left and outer right gangs are non-continuous with a center gang pair.
