    Abstract: A weighing system for a refuse truck having lifting means for engaging and lifting a refuse container. The weighing system comprises a transducer which is mounted on the lifting means of the truck for sensing the weight of the refuse container for producing an electrical analog signal. Electrical digitizing means convert and analog signal to a digital signal which is indicative of the weight which is sensed by the transducer. A limit switch is operatively connected to the transducer so that the transducer is energized at a point when a full container is supported by the lifting means and when an empty container is supported by the lifting means for the purpose of determining the weight of the refuse in the container.

    Abstract: A pallet truck with a fork member movable in an up-and-down manner is provided with a plurality of load cells on the tines of the fork member for weighing loads carried by the pallet truck. Each load cell is mounted by a tine of the fork member, over which tine is floatingly mounted an elongated floating member extending substantially along the entire length of the respective tine member. Each floating member is supported by at least one ball bearing operatively associated with at least one load cells on the tine. A crosspiece is provided interconnecting the ends of the two floating members adjacent the main frame of the pallet truck, which crosspiece is fixedly secured to the ends of the floating members in order to provide stability and increased inertia to the entire floating mechanism. The ball bearings associated with the load cells are mounted adjacent a respective inner side-edge surface of the tine member, so that a wooden pallet with load may be more accurately weighed.

    Abstract: The weight of items carried by a fork lift truck may be measured by this fork lift scale. This fork lift scale consists of horizontally disposed load sensors connecting a crossbar frame to the crossbars of the fork lift truck. Forks are supported by the crossbar frame. Strain gages are mounted on the load sensors to sense the weight of items carried on the forks. The strain gages are mounted to sense vertical shear or bending in the load sensors. The strain gages are positioned on the load sensors and are electrically interconnected so that types of loading, other than vertical loading due to the weight of items placed on the forks, are rejected and not measured by this fork lift scale.

    Abstract: A mounting adapter provides a quick attachment means for mounting or removing an electro-mechanical scale with respect to the lift frame of a fork lift truck. The scale comprises a scale frame, which supports the lifting forks, and also includes a plurality of deformable bolts each having strain gages thereon to sense deformation of the bolts when a load is placed on the forks. Circuit means produce output signals caused by deformation of the bolts and the circuit means also converts the signals to perceptive weight readouts. The mounting adapter includes transverse frame members to which the deformable bolts are secured. Clamping means clamp the frame members of the mounting adapter to the lift frame of the fork lift truck.
