Patent number: 6056279Abstract: In a duo-pumping hydraulic mount, two acting pistons are employed, one associated with each working chamber. The pistons are rigidly connected. During operation, internal pressures generated in each chamber are opposite in sign with one being negative and the other being positive. Therefore, to achieve a given pressure differential across the fluid track, the magnitude of the pressure in each working chamber is half what would be experienced in a conventional single pumping mount. Durability is improved by reducing internal pressures and by distributing kinetic loads to two rubber elements so that individual stresses are minimized. An individual load bearing element supports static loads on the mount.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1998Date of Patent: May 2, 2000Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Chiung Alex Lee, Richard Edward Longhouse, Daniel Edward Ferris, II, Mark Wayne Long

Patent number: 5740876Abstract: A power plant support device for a vehicle which includes a releasable first mount and second mount. The first mount has a releasing mechanism which releases a connection to the power plant upon an impact force larger than a predetermined impact force. The second mount rotatably supports the power plant and is located below the center of gravity of the power plant, but it has enough endurance to support against the predetermined impact force. Patent number: 5050702Abstract: A chassis mount for a vehicle having a chassis and a wheel suspension includes an approximately frustoconical rubber body having a lower surface and being retained in the chassis. A central bushing is disposed inside the rubber body. A bolt has ends and is guided in the central bushing. A fork structure articulatingly connects the ends of the bolt to the wheel suspension. A hydraulically damping mount element has two liquid chambers communicating with one another through an overflow conduit. The chambers include a working chamber with an upper surface. The hydraulically damping mount element is mounted as a modular component onto the lower surface of the rubber body with the lower surface of the rubber body forming the upper end surface of the working chamber.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 1990Date of Patent: September 24, 1991Assignee: Metzeler GmbHInventor: Wolfgang Sauer

Patent number: 5038886Abstract: The status of a lock-up clutch included in an automotive power unit T/C is monitored. In the event that the lock-up clutch is partially locked up or conditioned to produce so called "slip lock-up", ERF (electroheopectic fluid) filled engine mounts are conditioned to produce an increased amount of rigidity, while in the event that the lock-up clutch is fully engaged the engine mounts are induced to assume a more flexible state. In addition to this engine idling and shake, vibration can be attenuated by sensing the relative displacement between the power unit and the chassis.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1990Date of Patent: August 13, 1991Assignee: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventor: Takashi Shibayama

Patent number: 5037058Abstract: A damper used to damp roll vibration of an automotive power unit includes housing in which a disc is immersed in a highly viscous liquid, and a linkage which has universal joints formed at each end thereof. The linkage induces relative rotation between the housing and the disc. A resilient vibration attenuating arrangement is included in one or both of the universal joints for insulating the vehicle chassis from vibration which tends to be freely transmitted through the damper per se and cause cabin reverberation noise.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1989Date of Patent: August 6, 1991Assignees: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., Oiles CorporationInventors: Masamitsu Kojima, Masami Mochimaru, Ikuo Shimoda, Masaru Iwakura, Takanobu Ide

Patent number: 4998592Abstract: A passive mechanical damping system, particularly for the suspension of a cab from a truck frame, provides a minimal level of damping force to impede the free movement of a truck cab about its nominal height and also provides higher levels, progressively or in discrete steps, of damping as the movement of the cab exceeds preset limits of displacement defined by a lost motion connection to provide maximum vibration isolation while providing additional damping to control cab movement when the preset displacement limits are exceeded. The system provides a low rate viscous damper continuously connected between the cab and the truck frame and a high rate viscous damper connected therebetween through a lost motion connection.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1990Date of Patent: March 12, 1991Assignee: Navistar International Transportation Corp.Inventors: Edward E. Patent number: 4943092Abstract: A structure for mounting a suspension member for supporting suspension control arms to the vehicle body with high resiliency in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle but high rigidity in the lateral direction as well as in turning as viewed from a top of the vehicle or as viewed in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, the structure including substantially cylindrical elastic bushes disposed between the suspension member and the vehicle body to extend in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and assist links restricting lateral shifting of longitudinal end portions of the suspension member relative to the vehicle body.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 1989Date of Patent: July 24, 1990Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Tetsunori Haraguchi

Patent number: 4901814Abstract: A mounting of an internal combustion engine which has V-shaped cylinder rows and is installed transversely into the body of a passenger motor vehicle. The internal combustion engine is suspended at two bearing supports and is supported with respect to the body by means of two torque supports.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1988Date of Patent: February 20, 1990Assignee: Porsche AGInventors: Ulrich von Broock, Ruediger Fischle, Rolf von Sivers

Patent number: 4896867Abstract: Hydraulically damping elastic bearing, in particular engine mounts for motor vehicles, with two rigid end walls opposite one another in the axial direction and at least two chambers containing damping fluid arranged axially one behind the other, whereby the chambers are connected for fluid communications with one another by a passage running in an annular fashion. For the variable modification of the length of the passage, partitions are inserted in the component containing the passage, which partitions divide the passage into individual passage segments connected for fluid communication with one another by an opening.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 1988Date of Patent: January 30, 1990Assignee: Boge AGInventors: Georg Schyboll, Heinz Brenner

Patent number: 4893797Abstract: The support is so arranged as to have a wider damping characteristic. For this purpose, it comprises two expansion chambers connected to the same work chamber by ducts having different characteristics so that the liquid contained in these ducts is put into resonance at different frequencies. The two expansion chambers are disposed concentrically to each other on the same side of the work chamber and are defined by a separating partition and by a single diaphragm.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1988Date of Patent: January 16, 1990Assignees: Automobiles Peugeot, Automobiles CitroenInventors: Marcel Le Fol, Pascal Robic

Patent number: 4893799Abstract: Antivibration isolation device with hydraulic damping of radial elasticity, consisting of four concentric tubes bonded two by two to the elastic lateral walls, which by simultaneous fitting form two chambers connected by a long laminar passage for an inertial damping fluid, shunted by limited deformation of a thin membrane, to modulate the apparent dynamic rigidity as a function of the frequency. Process for the realization of such a device. The object of the invention is to provide antivibration isolation for machines or motor vehicles.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1988Date of Patent: January 16, 1990Assignee: Kleber IndustrieInventor: Etienne de Fontenay
