  • Patent number: 9127760
Abstract: An axle assembly for a vehicle includes an axle housing assembly having a carrier housing and a differential assembly mounted in the carrier housing for rotation about a rotational axis. In an exemplary implementation, the differential assembly includes a unitary differential case, a differential gear set and a shroud member. The differential case defines an interior cavity and a window having an outer perimeter, where the window is configured to provide access to the interior cavity for assembling the gear set into the interior cavity. The shroud member is configured to be removably coupled to the differential case to cover the window and provide a radiused contour aligning with a radiused contour of the differential case thereby reducing spin losses when the differential assembly is rotating relative to the axle housing assembly.

Abstract: A sealing device for a chamber including at least one rotary member and at least one static member of a jet engine and can contain a lubricating oil droplet suspension. The sealing device includes at least one brush seal that includes juxtaposed strands and is set to ensure sealing between at least one rotary member and at least one stationary member, a mechanism to recover part of the oil suspended within the inner space of the chamber, and a mechanism to deliver the recovered oil. The delivery mechanism is set up to generate a flow of oil along the strands of the brush seal, the oil flow being oriented in the direction of the rotary member. The brush seal thus provides better resistance to coking.

Abstract: An inclined surface inclined such that a portion thereof farther away from an oil injection port becomes lower is formed in an inner wall of an oil reservoir which faces a tip end of an oil injection gun to be inserted into the injection port, such that oil to be discharged by the injection gun is guided by the inclined surface toward a bottom portion of the reservoir. Accordingly, the oil to be discharged by the injection gun is prevented from splashing back from the inner wall of the reservoir, which faces the tip end of the injection gun, and blowing back out from the injection port in a simple structure, and smooth oil injection work is thereby enabled. Additionally, it is possible to prevent a situation where a worker erroneously recognizes that the injection work of the oil is completed, and an amount of the injected oil is insufficient.

  • Patent number: 8997934
Abstract: A lubrication system for a gear system for a wind turbine is disclosed. The lubrication system comprises a reservoir adapted to contain lubricant, first pump means arranged to supply lubricant from the reservoir to the gear system via a first fluid connection, and vacuum generating means arranged in fluid connection with the reservoir, thereby maintaining a total air pressure in the reservoir which is lower than an ambient pressure during normal operation. The lowered total air pressure in the reservoir draws lubricant from the gear system into the reservoir, thereby increasing the lubricant level in the reservoir and decreasing the lubricant level in the gear system, allowing the lubrication system to be operated in a ‘dry sump mode’. In the case of an emergency or during start-up the vacuum generating means is stopped, thereby increasing the total air pressure in the reservoir.
